Pretty big news in the press of the Occupied Areas these past few days...

The landmark Bellapais Abbey is under threat from a controversial scheme to build a sewage works near it.

Environmentalists and locals are objecting to the plans and have succeeded in obtaining two "injunctions" to temporarily halt the construction.

They've been joined in their condemnation, in this attack on CY Heritage, by politicians and environmentalists in the Free Areas.

Afrika reports that the Abbey has already been damaged by the works and expresses fears that part of the Abbey are in danger of collapse.
