Couldn't you find something more important? :)

The Bible was written over a period of around 2000 years by 40 different authors from three continents who wrote in three different languages!

Furthermore there are 929 chapters in the Old Testament and 260 chapters in the New Testament giving a total of 1,189 chapters!

Now, what’s the probability that a bunch of uneducated peasants were capable of collaborating to write a continuous complex story non stop that spanned that long?

I’d say the chances of such a feat in those days were ZERO without divine intervention, in fact you'd be hard pressed to achieve that with today’s technology!

That's what makes the bible so intriguing!

You obviously haven't even bothered to look properly, or you would have noticed that this contradiction is between Genesis 1 and 2, and the relevant passages come on pages 1 and 2 of the King James in my possession, out of a total of 256 pages, so we are hardly talking about texts that were written at different times or on different continents or in different languages.

I simply gave you an idea of the magnitude of this project so the likelihood of mistakes; such as inserting a sentence before another, is very high.

Incidentally, which is correct? God created the beasts first and then man, or he created man first, and then the beasts.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose."

The strange thing is that somebody recently told me that there exists a terrestrial and a celestial world, and God presumably belongs to the latter, so how can he have sons who fancy the physical women of the terrestrial world, and come down to the terrestrial world to marry these women?

That's not what its saying there.

It is saying that men took women for their wives.

Daughters of men are also daughters of God like the sons of God are men.

Not necessarily, they could have taken more than one and have a girl on girl show

Do you really need to make things up to smell the roses. The universe is not enough for you?

What else do you want or need? Everlasting life perhaps?

It's the false premise that is being discussed here.

do you know the answer to life? do you know the answer to the universe?

...what false premise? you assume you know the answers, i do not. call me a coward because i fear God, and a fool because i believe i have to fear nothing else. you may believe that the Homo Sapien is at the top of a scale, isn't it possible that we are at the bottom of the scale, having reason, and with it 'needs'? what is wrong with Humility, and Grace, Charity, above all? are they within the realm of religion, and that is all?

I thought humanity was created by God and this does not make them his sons. Any Hebrew scholars here? The original Hebrew for “sons of God” in this text is: בְנֵי־הָאֱלֹהִים (bene ha’elohim). Can this be construed to mean that these are just ordinary men.

One has to note that the previous verse (Gensis 6:1) reads: "And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them," and note that this ends in a comma, i.e. the sentence continues, and the next clause begins with "the sons of God", and in this context it seems clear to me, given that 'men' are the subject of the previous clause, the use of 'sons of God' as the subject of the next clause shows that this refers to something other than men.

No I don't assume to know the answers.

I just don't believe in creation by a superior being.

Science does not pretend to know it all, nor does it make things up. Religion does that and on top of that they tell you to have faith in it without question. Science does not do that but continues to explore.

The theories of a supreme creator of the universe is the false premise here. Who created this supreme being?

If that is what you want to believe without question then that is your problem.

For me there are just so many things that just don't add up.

No one is going to tell me to believe in a supreme being/creator or aliens. Sorry!
