UCY gives new hope in cancer screening

'Researchers at the University of Cyprus have given hope for early-stage detection of cancers in the small intestine by developing a bullet-size prototype capsule for cancer screening.

The UCY team, part of the Holistic Electronics Research Laboratory in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and headed by Assistant Professor Julius Georgiou, have developed a capsule aimed towards low-cost small intestine cancer screening.

Although cancers in the small intestine are less frequent, about 2% of all gastrointestinal malignancies, the survival rate of patients beyond the fifth year is very low largely because the small intestine is not easily accessible as opposed to the colon. As a result, by the time symptoms appear, the cancer may have already reached an advanced stage and most likely has metastasized to other organs....'

How many of you knew that Cyprus was manufacturing cars decades ago under the brand KMC?

Prior to the current Austrian Styer trucks used by the military, all CNG trucks were Cypriot KMCs. These were certainly the trucks I recall with which we moved about during my military service.

i remember the KMC's, my uncle had one...didnt Cyprus manufacture anti tank bazookas after 74?
