Hello everyone, thanks for all of your advice. I think I will open an account when I am next over and just transfer enough each month to cover the bills etc.

Transfer as much as you need and don't worry.

Bank of Cyprus got a new board of directors today. According to the Cyprus Mail:

New era dawns for BoC under foreign leadership

They look as happy as the "TCs" did when Turkey swooped in to steal from Cypriots...

Yeah, instead of a Cypriot crook it’s now run by an Irish crook!

Slowly but surely the locals will pull out…

The bank will do fine, they'll need more capital soon as they start adding up more provisions for the NPL's but the current group of shareholders will back the bank one more time. And there's no better security for a bank than having Ackerman the former Deutsche Bank CEO as its Chairman.

I wouldn't buy any shares just yet though, at 0.5 of book value it may look cheap right now but expect a short slide soon as the shares are listed again.

My 2 cents

as the shares are listed again

When is that supposed to happen? Do you think that it has the prospects of going over €5 in the next decade?

BoC is supposed to be a good bank.

2.5 - 3 euro a share within the next decade, once it gets listed again is quite possible, likely even.

That's a little too far to predict. I do know that funds such as W.Ross and Senvest that invested in the last round have an exit strategy at around .7-.8 book value. So they'll be looking to get out of the bank to a strategic buyer at around 50 cents. If you consider that their usual investment horizon is around 2-3 years then that would be my target if I was buying now or owned some already.

Looks like a re-listing is likely within the next quarter the latest by next March

I am starting to think that they may be worth a punt with some of my personally managed pension fund when they start trading again. Can anybody advise me how reliable stockbrokers are in Cyprus and whether you can get a low-cost, no-frills dealing only service anywhere. Are there any online trading platforms that include the Cyprus stock exchange? In fact, come to think of it, does BoC trade anywhere else apart from Cyprus? Thanks.
