Studio layout

Postby claireizz » Mon Nov 10, 2014 1:15 pm

As my new apartment is going to be compact, any recommendations from those with studio apartments of ways to divide the space or innovative ways to store items etc?

How to divide the space depends on the floor plan of each apartment. If you don't have much storage place then get rid of everything you don't need. Then place what you rarely use in upper shelves. Maybe also put those rarely used items in boxes, and put a label outside of each box indicating the contents. Also see if something can be combined to do more than one thing ... like a couch that becomes bed, or bed that has storage under (I don't like those because it is hard to clean under) etc.

...mosquitoes, hate the buggers, netting at doors, or to separate the bed, in some cases are helpful.

use shelving and/or cupboards as dividers. Wardrobes fitted out with Shelves are very good for storage. Taller the better. Sotos has it right. Clear out the junk and put the less used stuff at the top or the bottom, and the regular used stuff in the middle. boxing up (with optimum sized boxes) also helps get more stuff in and can make it easier to get it in and out without having to shift lots of individual items. Dividers in drawers too.

All good suggestions so far.

I would also add that for a coffee table you can use a wooden trunk so that you can store bedding and suchlike inside.

Also, IKEA do great stack-able, colorful plastic boxes with lids which look nice even if you have to have them stacked up in a corner within view.

Plus, (never seen these in Cyprus) what about a wall-folding double bed?
