I do have very definite views on how the recent outbreak of this disease has been handled, as it happens. :)

The Anglo-Americans have seized the opportunity to put into place their long-awaited further control measures on immigration. Nigel Farage probably owes his recent win to gain an MP because of the scaremongering that's been going on. Certainly a few right-wingers have capitalised ...

Rubbish!

Australia already had these control measures in place well over a year ago.

And congratulations to Farage. When are you lefties ever going to learn that there are legitimate concerns in the community held by human beings and they do not appreciate being branded righties and racists. If anything, you highlight your own prejudices. Farage is only going to get much stronger so watch that space.

If the Brits and Americans lag behind, then that is their problem. We all know that Britain can do bugger all about in anyway until it exits the EU. You poor buggers are nothing more than a colony now.

You what? Do you have Ebola? What experience? What views?

Just to answer your post about TB!

here are some facts from WHO:

Key facts

1) Tuberculosis (TB) is second only to HIV/AIDS as the greatest killer worldwide due to a single infectious agent.
2) In 2012, 8.6 million people fell ill with TB and 1.3 million died from TB.
3) Over 95% of TB deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, and it is among the top three causes of death for women aged 15 to 44.
4) In 2012, an estimated 530 000 children became ill with TB and 74 000 HIV-negative children died of TB.
5) TB is a leading killer of people living with HIV causing one fifth of all deaths.
6) Multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB) is present in virtually all countries surveyed.
7) The estimated number of people falling ill with tuberculosis each year is declining, although very slowly, which means that the world is on track to achieve the Millennium Development Goal to reverse the spread of TB by 2015.
8. The TB death rate dropped 45% between 1990 and 2012.
9) An estimated 22 million lives saved through use of DOTS and the Stop TB Strategy recommended by WHO.

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs104/en/

and this:

Tuberculosis is curable and preventable.

Which is WHY Ebola is perceived to be a greater potential threat! Ebola is not curable. If you get it, it is likely you will die, although some do actually survive the disease.

And it is rather fortunate that the disease is not airborne.

So I don't see how you can come up with the scare mongering argument. There are also security concerns on why a country could deem it necessary to implement extra immigration controls especially today with the threat of terrorism being at an unprecedented level. Further to this, there are economic reasons.

Farage can't control any of this but he represents a section of the community who feel the need to stem the flow of migrants in the UK. It's a pretty fair position for many countries to take particularly in an environment of high unemployment and labour market pressure.

I would be interested in some scientific data since that is your field.

I'm still waiting to hear your views as to why you thing the UK and US are capitalizing on the Ebola Threat?

Why so much prejudice against supporters of UKIP or the so called right wing?

Why is this even an issue for the Left Wing? I don't get it.

Ebola is a virus, nobody can be blamed. Or do you blame the Africans for ebola? And why the "white devils" are making such "dramatic efforts" is because ebola can spread in their countries also. If the virus couldn't escape from Africa then the efforts from outsiders would be far less dramatic.

It could also spread to Cyprus. I bet you Cyprus is not as well positioned to cope with that compared to UK or US.

Why are you avoiding your own thread topic?

I gave you links to my interpretation of the present outbreak. How it's being exploited under the guise of 'control of spread'. For sure you can control the spread; and medication has been shown to work in wealthy countries. But are you joining the ranks of the panic-spreaders or do you have some experience with the disease or similar global outbreaks (SARS, perhaps? BSE?) that have been presented as near-pandemic only to fizzle out of the media when they no longer serve a purpose?

I've given you lots of leads, now discuss and let us know your views, please.

No you didn't provide any links or disclose the full information from WHO about TB being preventable and treatable and how Ebola is not treatable.

I had to come in and disclose all that information and I provided this link which refutes everything you say and justifies the international concern for Ebola as opposed to TB which is no threat at all. So there really is not much to discuss is there?
