terkish eez

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Turkey asserts that the EEZ in the Mediterranean, not the Black Sea where it accepts the Law of the Sea, should be apportioned by coastline length, not the usual criteria of the Law of the Sea.

Well, these are the coastlines:

Greece- area 131 957 coastline 13,676 or 15,147 by World Resources Institue

Cyprus area 9,241 coastline 648, or 671 by WRI

Turkey area 783,562 coastline 7,200 or 8,140 by WRI (includes Aegean and Black Sea coasts) in the eastern Med it is about the same as Cyprus.

Italy area 294,140 coastline 7,600, 9,226 by WRI

So are we going to see Turkey promoting the rights of Greece as the biggest coastal state in the Mediterranean, one of the longest coastlines in the world, soon?

I would love to see how this firepower is going to be used against an Italian, a French and an American company drilling down there. It should be fun to see them go from "zero problems" to full scale shithouse with every state in the Med and the EU.

You doom and gloom merchants are still at it, Turkey has a guarantor party and with no solution has even stronger interests about the eez around this island, she will do whatever necessary to protect our (TRNC+Turkey) rights.

There is NO RIGHT AT ALL for Turkey from her status as guarantor. A guarantor is not a co-owner, and if it is then Greece has a share, which would make things interesting for us all. Turkey relinquished her guarantor status from the moment she ceased to recognise the RoC anyway.

Guaranteeing independence means reinforcing the rights of Cyprus to her natural resources, not challenging them.

As for the TCs rights, they depend on whether they want Taksim-Enosis with another power or if they still want one unitary Cypriot state. Till then their rights are suspended. This is pretty much the attitude of the international community who were convinced all these years by the TC demands for separation and are now totally confused about joint ownership of resources clearly in the south.

It was our mistake not to give you Taksim to the hilt in 1974. And be rid of this malingering misery of a "special needs" community moaning and groaning about everything while refusing to contribute the slightest in any meaningful way.

1. sit on it and do nothing.
2. sign an agreement and everybody benefits from it.

your call.

Dream on. The extraction process is about to begin and all you can do is watch!

I love looking at the Terkish Ships. I am sure the Israelis and Americans will also love looking at them too. Probably gets a bit boring on the rigs so it would be something to break the monotony and provide some amusement.

You guys are just all talk and we all know it. Yeh right, as if you will disrupt American Interests. Give it a try and see how far you will get!
