Turkey asserts that the EEZ in the Mediterranean, not the Black Sea where it accepts the Law of the Sea, should be apportioned by coastline length, not the usual criteria of the Law of the Sea.
Well, these are the coastlines:
Greece- area 131 957 coastline 13,676 or 15,147 by World Resources Institue
Cyprus area 9,241 coastline 648, or 671 by WRI
Turkey area 783,562 coastline 7,200 or 8,140 by WRI (includes Aegean and Black Sea coasts) in the eastern Med it is about the same as Cyprus.
Italy area 294,140 coastline 7,600, 9,226 by WRI
So are we going to see Turkey promoting the rights of Greece as the biggest coastal state in the Mediterranean, one of the longest coastlines in the world, soon?
I would love to see how this firepower is going to be used against an Italian, a French and an American company drilling down there. It should be fun to see them go from "zero problems" to full scale shithouse with every state in the Med and the EU.
