I did the same; becoming increasingly intolerant of his total ignorance. He was saved by his wife.
He's only the second Brit that has openly admitted (through wanting to boast at having a 'holiday home abroad'
) to 'purchasing' property in this way. The other one, a few years back, was saved on account of regretting his mistake, but this one, yesterday, was soooo stupid! He asked me if I was born in the north or the south of Cyprus - blooming cheek! Except, he seemed to think I was under 40 years old - as I said, he's stupid!
I'm having a good time in Minsk admiring the Soviet architecture, all new buildings since Minsk was mostly grazed to the ground by the Nazis in WW2. Earlier this morning I took a walk along a busy thoroughfare, somehow I managed to get ...lost but after asking a few people, none spoke English, I found my way back. My other third welcomed me back with a ....glass of wine
There's something totally romantic about that somber soviet style, isn't there? Like reading
Brave New World or
1984 and escaping into another world and time. Enjoy, and stay away from their policemen.
Briefly visited the Sts Simon and St Helena " Red "Catholic church in the centre of Minsk. Full to the bream with worshippers, the church was built in early 20th century, after the war it was used as a cinema !!
Returned to its glory now a spectacular church.
I have now learned to wait for the lights to turn green before making a dash to the opposite side, as they say once bitten twice shy.
Off to Zhlobin now, a small town about 3 hours by car, its my other thirds home town , will spend 3 days there before making the journey back to London.
I must say I have thoroughly relaxed and I think this time I will go ahead with my twice cancelled operation later on this month. Dread it really but it has to done.
