I thought they were there as well.
The Peshmerga are doing very well in comparison to their Syrian Comrades. But the campaign in Iraq is a lot less complicated and relatively trouble free as opposed to Syria - and there is still no strategy about what happens should Assad Fall and ISIL be defeated.
In Iraq, all that is required is to assist the Peshmerga maintain their strongholds, and assist the Iraqi Security Forces. That does not exist in Syria.
The Peshmerga are assisted with a few SAS on the ground, and I presume that this is a HUGE help to them. If only the SAS were in Kobane.
