WHO ON EARTH GAVE PLANNING PERMISSION !!

Postby miltiades » Thu Sep 11, 2014 8:41 am

Saturday last, I accompanied my brother on his way to Paphos airport taking his daughter flying back to the UK.

As you come off the motorway and entering the airport road there was very heavy traffic on this very narrow road leading to the airport, about 2 or so kilometres away .

We thought there had been an accident but noted that on both sides of the road there were cars parked, one after another. Travelling at a snails pace we came acroos, on the right hand side, a newly established wedding venue centre, although a car park , rather small was available, obviously not enough for all the guests which explained why cars were parked on both sides of the road reducing traffic to a single line, this is the road to Pahos .....international airport !!!

We thought we would lose the flight and could not believe that a planning permission was given for a venue that could attract wedding parties of a few thousand quests.

The person or persons who gave concent for this new venue must be out of their mind, surely they took into consideration the traffic problems that such a position would create on the rather narrow road leading to an airport. Only in a banana republic such planning permission would have been granted.

The stupidity of allowing such a centre to develop on the only road leading to the so called international airport is beyond comprehension.

Be warned if travelling to the airport on wedding days, its absolute nighmare. We were stuck in trafic for 30 minutes.

I will email the Paphos mayor and I will express my utter shock that this new centre was granted planning permission, unless of course it was not !

Bit like the Aphrodite knocking-shop, just off the Troodos Road, near Palodia, or, if rumours are true, the Annassa hotel near Polis.....

come to that are you sure it is not a revival of the Aphrodite knocking shop?

You are bothered by the airport but not the Limassol Marina?

Who conceived of a 1000 boat marina for Cyprus? What clients are they expecting to come moor their boats 300 sea miles from the nearest sailing and boating area?

We all love our homeland but the facts are undeniable. Cyprus does not offer opportunities for amateur yachting and definitely no attractions for luxury cruising. Only a landlubber planner who knows FA about yachting, but is a genius at convincing investors, would come up with that Marina idea.

People point to the Greek islands as a parallel. Note the final S, islands! You can sail a few minutes, a couple of hours at most and you are at the next island. This is what amateurs who pretend to be sailing want, frequent stops at different islands so they have the illusion of a voyage. Those who want the reality go ocean sailing.

I visited the Marina as soon as I got to Cyprus, made it my first stop, out of curiosity. Brand name shops everywhere, no local designer presence, the moorings taken up by small craft, the two-three "big" yachts were smallish 60 foot cruisers. It may be social gathering spot, but a yachting one, hmmm don't see it.

Maybe Kikapu can add his more experienced view on this.

It's at long last good to see the ducks being lined up...

Number 2....

http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... id=0037131

There's so much LACK of planning permissions, or alleged fraudulent permissions gained its going to take a while..

But after years of so many reporting these obvious missing details and being told to be quiet, to see the house of cards about to collapse is vital to wiping the slate clean..

I'm sure you all read the comment by Hermes Solomon this last week...and it's been shared by thousands of people..

I'm delighted, the property scams are connected to the huge amount of NPLs now owed to banks that will never get repaid, these few people have brought Cyprus to its knees, the fight back has begun.

http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... id=0036291?

GOOD governance is paramount to a healthy economy. This week I include land registries, planning departments, building inspectors, mayors and councillors to last week’s list of dishonest and greedy developers in cahoots with bent lawyers, bankers and politicians – miscreants all. The administration is rotten to the core On-going investigations into land registry misdealing are only the tip of the Cyprus property scam iceberg. The ‘big meltdown’ is finally underway. Bad governance was of little consequence years back, when land and building costs were relatively cheap and ‘foreign’ interest minimal. Parents scrimped and saved to build homes to marry off their daughters; bank loans rarely came into play. Then ‘Charlie’ money arrived from the colonies, land prices soared and the indigenes became rich on the backs of emigrant relatives, who chose to build homes here for their dotage. Add to that northern Europeans seeking a place in the sun, and the construction industry boomed from 1976 until 2008. During the boom, bad governance became ‘an industry’, sweeping up in its wake honest government employees – join us or stay quiet, oppose us and be denied promotion. By the time the financial crisis finally hit Cyprus, the entire administration was under the control of ‘the property scammers’. And we know who they are; it’s just a matter of ‘disinfecting their books’ with a fine tooth comb for our courts and hospitals to overflow with the vermin that brought this country to its knees.
