Hello everyone.
I know that its illegal for someone to bring putbull or dogo argentino to Cyprus. Never the less, you can still find some of those dogs on Cyprus.

My friend recently was telling me that he got a pitbull from a Shelter.

Would that be illegal? I mean the dog was already on Cyprus. He only rescued it. Is there a procedure that he has to go through to make it legal (if it isnt)? Such as Castration.

Or if the dog is already on Cyprus no one really cares.

Andreas, why don't you ask the vet at the shelter?

Laws change all the time on such matters, so neutering dogs of that type might be required. Don't they neuter all inmates in the shelter anyway?

The usual case with most European countries is that they restrict the types of dogs that are allowed through their borders. But, they don't euthanise the existing dogs of that kind, unless they have attacked someone.

I do not live in Cyprus unfortunately. But thank you for your reply.
All shelter dogs are supposed to be castrated

But I was wondering in case they dont castrated them before the adoption, and the owners dont castrate it either.

Ask the shelters mate.
If it's been registered and microchipped I don't think there's a problem.
