Confused

Postby Susan66 » Fri Aug 22, 2014 8:58 am

Hi, feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment :( Basically, moving from paphos to Limassol after only 6 months due to school issues. The children have been accepted at the Heritage school but I'm having my doubts due to some recent passing comments about the facility. So, after hearing good things about the Grammer school, I have an appointment with headmaster next week where the children will also take an entrance exam....If the children get accepted how do I choose which school is the best........Anyone have experience with either school, good or bad ??

2 of my children will be in senior and one in Junior school.

Regards,

Confused mum.

I reckon Grammar School is much better. Therefore it will be an easy choice, if your children pass the extrance exam.

What comments about the facilities did you hear? Heritage is a newer school and its facilities should be better. There is also this one: http://www.foleysschool.com/

Heritage is a popular school with 3 form entry , in total about 750 pupils and a waiting list. I would be interested to hear what you have heard.

For my part I have a child at Heritage, going to year 4', and am very happy with the school. She has SEN and they have been very accommodating in providing for her. She has done ok, and got good results despite her learning issues.

They do have some very able teachers.

As said elsewhere by others the facilities are new and in my view excellent.

My son was also there for four years. He did ok too. We had a troubled time with him transitioning to Cyprus and the school was very supportive. He ended with good grades at GCSE and A level.

I have another daughter, twin of the first, at Logos. Possibly a bit too Baptist, but we cannot complain about the quality of the education.

I cannot say anything much about the Grammar school as I have no personal experience of it, except short comments from others. I have not heard anything bad.

Foleys? Very academically driven. Very hard to get in.

I cannot comment much on other schools but i know someone about to start teaching at Heritage and I heard today from them that Heritage is very switched on and very well organised as a school. The subject syllabus are well planned with a complete detailed time table of what is taught when. They apparently have well defined standards , targets and marking policies. They are also experimenting with technology to both deliver educational content and monitor pupil progress and if the current trials are successful to allow parental access, next year to their child's records of progress.
