It's not our war. We are in the midst of a nightmare ourselves with half our country under Turkish occupation.

When push comes to shove, the Palestinians would support Turkey as a fellow Muslim country more than they are likely to support us. That's enough for me to sympathise with Israel's fight for survival.

If you love Cyprus, you will feel empathy for the one most likely to side with your cause. And although I will not dogmatically support anyone as a trusted or loyal ally, other than our own Greek blood-brothers first, it's a simple logical matter of support for the one "most likely". Right now, it's Israel. Only the enemies of Cyprus will join the anti-Israel bandwagon.

The fact is, as you have deduced on your own, is that any country has a right to defend the security of its own citizens against dodgy organisations like Hamas which is supported by Turkey.

That is the reason why Israel developed the Iron Dome Network. This missile defence system is purely designed to intercept the types of rockets fired by Hamas. The success rate is said to be over 90%.

The fact that Israel is developing defence weapons systems does not sit well with you because it paints them as the non aggressor only interested in their own security (which is the case) but it is something you want to suppress.

If the liberation of my country (through some geopolitical mess) depended on the slaughter of the Palestinians to their extinction, then I’d rather NOT liberate my country for I’d refuse to exist on such a dirty piece of land!
