Your comparison to Cyprus is not accurate. Hamas has been launching rocket attacks into Israel territory. It is not land under occupation. The Turks however are illegally occupying RoC territory.[/quote
There are 650,000 Israelis in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, they continue to build on Palestinian land and you seriously believe they will get up and leave one day if a Palestinian State is ever created, dream on.
As to Hamas launching attacks on Israeli territory, a more accurate description would be Israeli OCCUPIED territory (rather like Cyprus). Where the hell do you think the Gaza refugees came from, the moon?
Enlighten yourself,

Maybe not from East Jerusalem but from the West Bank I most certainly do believe that the settlers will leave voluntarily after a settlement.
Jerry, your descriptor is terribly woeful. Israel is NOT an occupied land. It is a sovereign country that is a member of the UN and it is recognized the world over. As a result, it has a legal right to lawfully defend its territory from external attack.
The rocket and tunnel attacks by Hamas are an attack on Israel, and as a result of this, Israel has a right to defend itself. That might include an offensive against Hamas terrorists deep within Gaza in a crowded urban environment which is the civilian shield of Hamas from Israeli attack. The IDF issues warnings and evacuation instructions before the begin their military operations in that area.
Yes it is awful to see innocent people getting hurt it killed. It's a real shame, but Hamas probably enjoy it a little too much because they use this for political mileage. The Israeli's know that this damages them internationally. But as far as they are concerned, the price of this is justified by the total destruction of Hamas.
If you place any country in Israel's shoes then you would quickly understand that they would do the same as Hamas attacks simply can't be tolerated by anyone. Bottom line is, if Hamas stop the rocket attacks, then Israel wouldn't go anywhere near Gaza.
