By support I do not infer that I condone the killing of civilians, no decent human being could possibly excuse such widespread bloodshed affecting innocent civilians.

I do however understand the driving force behind this horrid war and hope that the latest ceasefire holds and is respected by both waring factions.

Israel is surrounded by hostile nations none more than those nations that have as their agenda the destruction of Israel.

I support Israel because at long last we have in Israel a powerful ally , one that could offer Cyprus some form of security against any expansionist plans that Turkey may harbour.

Isreal is only acting as our ally because it was rejected by Turkey ... Turkey rejected Israel because the Turks want to improve their image to the Arabs ... it is a publicity stunt. So I don't think that we should support Israel blindly just because we think they are our allies!

Actually the Anglo-Americans created Israel... and then the Jews went on to occupy even more land which does not belong to them. So they are the hostile ones ... not their victims who fight for their freedom!

During the Arab Israeli war of 67, Israel captured Gaza from EGYPT and occupied it until 1994.
They GAVE IT BACK to the Arabs. Withdrew its military and settlements and gave it to Yiasser Arafat and the ' Palestinian National Authority' or whatever it was called.

And then HAMAS came along, voted in by the Palestinian public, with its Jew genocide charters.
Voila!

Trust for what? I think Cyprus should try to have good relations with all its neighbors and if they have conflicts between them then we need to be objective. In this case Israel is clearly in the wrong.
