Don't forget the latex balloons that were created to bring water to the illegally occupied part of Cyprus, but by the time they arrived it was salt water they were delivering...Turkish technology hadn't discovered osmosis until that fateful salty day..

Another crack in Turkish bridge collapse, 14 still missing

Another section of a bridge in the northern province of Zonguldak that partially collapsed last Friday came down on Monday as officials continued to search for 14 people who went missing after the first collapse.

This from 2002...

Turkey is planning to build a pipeline beneath the Mediterranean in its latest attempt to take much-needed fresh water to Turkish-controlled northern Cyprus.

It is hoped that the 100-kilometre (60-mile) pipeline will be finished by 2004.

The project, which has been under discussion for some time, will pump water for drinking and irrigation from the southern coast of Turkey.

A previous scheme to float drinking water across the Mediterranean in specially designed balloons had to be abandoned after the containers kept bursting.
