as regards to the mass rapes suggestion i think it is the usual myth that is being propagated by our gc friends. i have had a look at this in the past and un has under 200 cases of rapes reported in 1974. considering ther were 50,000 thousand soldiers involved in the intervention you can hardly call that mass. however if you look at 63 to 74, there are a lot more cases of raped tcs.

After the invasion by Turkey in 1974, the cases of pregnancy by rape was so high in volume, that Cyprus had to change its laws on abortion.
Being an Orthodox country prior, such a thing wasn't possible by legal means.
