I agree 100%.

What, you both don't agree with the weightings of the various confederations?

Look, you guys got as much chance against Australia as the Cyprus Mouflons against the Wallabies. You would get destroyed!

Does this washed out player still play for Apoel at 34?

The only time he achieved good spells was with AEK Athens and Apoel!

Look boys, just send the poor bastard ober to the English 4th Division and be done with it!

The reason why Cypriot Football is weak is because there are not many Cypriots playing in the teams. Most of the players are second rate foreign signings. There has to be a rule against this. And don't tell me there are not many good Cypriot players around. If the teams give the local players a chance, they will improve and develop.

In the A League, each team is only allowed 3 signings and they have to be marquee signings of international repute such as David Villa - a Spanish Striker that scored against Australia at the World Cup.

You've lost the plot mate.

he was transferred for 30 Million Euro and still plays for Spain. Bloody expensive reject.

Continue buying second rate players and screwing the Cypriots. One day, I am going to set your priorities right.

CY shoot up 55 places to no 85 just behind OZ. :D

http://incyprus.philenews.com/en-gb/spo ... a-rankings

Fifa Rankings.
http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/

It's not an accurate depiction because of the weightings. There are Spanish, English and Italian teams for instance that are ranked lower because they didn't qualify in the Champions League but they are not by any stretch ranked lower in reality.

Barcelona is in a league of its own, so there is no comparison unless Apoel can play with some heart. If they were Australian and Cypriot Players in the side, they might have even won!

Dude, it's our national side. Not clubs.
CY 85
OZ 84.

Regardless.. CY was ranked as high as 42 in 2012.

Australia needs 3 to 4 years before it is at its peak (top 30). Plus they have lost 5 in a row until it beat Saudi Arabia.

Also, once again, it has to do with the weightings.beating Saudi Arabia in a friendly doesn't count for much but beating Bosnia in a Euro Qualifier does.

The real test is if they play each other and I don't think Cyprus stands much of a chance if Australia brings out its players which are mostly Euro professionals.

The other thing is that Australia has a new coach in Ange Postecoglu who is experimenting a lot with very young players. You saw the team at the World Cup. The tournament was used as a training camp in order to rebuild a new team for the next 10 years.

You've lost the plot mate....the reason beating Bosnia in the World Cup qualifiers is worth more than a friendly against the Saudis is because beating Bosnia in a WC qualifier is HARDER than beating the Saudis in a friendly

Why don't you just admit it? If Australia is one rank away from the island of Cyprus (and this is national teams mind you) then Cyprus is either a sporting Giant or Australia is a sporting midget.

You decide.

Australia will not be playing any Asian Cup Games until December so its game over the next few months are friendlies!

I would like to express my gratitude that the Australian Soccer Federation has complete control of the situation and regulates dinosaurs like yourself to the sidelines and mandates the requirement that clubs have to invest in local talent.

You are the reason why Cyprus will always be the whipping boys of Europe and will always be ranked 50+ while Australia leaves you to eat its dust! Australia will be top 50 in less than 6 months.

You should also know that Australia has not been ranked that low in over 20 years, while you guys are permanently there because Cypriot Players are not even given a fair go in the Cyprus First Division.

As I told you before, Australia had a Golden Age between 1996 and 2012. It is not rebuilding a VERY young team and should be back to where it was in less than 4 years time when our current squad matures a bit. It is a squad that is highly talented with most playing their Football in Western European leagues.
