The best thing they could do Tim. Why anyone would WANT to live in Hackney baffles me. THere are pockets of middle class white hippies everywhere though (Is that a contradiction in terms?) who enjoy the great variety of restaurants and posh cafes. Stoke Newington High Street being one of them. Old decrepit victorian houses that i watched deteriorate over four decades have been restored by their Jamaican owners, who use to make a living from renting. Its great to see them go from sitting outside their properties in amongst rubbish to having expensive cars parked outside because they bought at the right time. The Hackney Empire and Town Hall area looks like the middle of the west end now but still I would not want to live there. I suppose I am a country boy at heart. Sorry TIm, I am telling you all this and you might already know. Do you still live in or close?
