There is no fiddling and no selection involved at all, unlike your post where you compare Greece's stats and population size to a select few countries and ignore those that were not so favourable. The table is the table, it is fifa's not mine and its based on 100% fact not opinion. If you have a problem with it somehow being 'unfair' to Greece I suggest you contact Fifa and not complain to me. It is just a fact that in the fifa all time world cup ranking table Greece are 61st. Sorry if that fact upsets you - you go ahead and ignore it or rationalise it any way you like to make it fit your requirement of 'Greece is great', for you doing so does not change the facts one iota.
Useless table for historians at most. There's a reason why the seeded teams are decided by the current rankings that rank Greece 12th and Australia 62nd.
http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/Are we seriously all discussing whether or not Australia is a serious footballing nation? It's 62nd and it plays in one of the easiest confederations out there. Go figure....
Yes we are discussing that Australia is a serious Footballing Nation. The facts speak for themselves.
Australian players have been well represented at some of the best clubs across Europe. whereas Greek Players don't really get a look in. There is a reason for this, and you guys saw the reason at Australia's World Cup games. Australian Players actually play Football, are creative, more technical, skilled, and fit. But most of all, they fight and play to win. As a European Manager, I would be head hunting players such as these. Would I look at any Greek Players? Certainly not!
The current rank is as a result of bad results in the last 12 months. Even the last 2 games which Australia lost has resulted in Australia sliding further. But it does not reflect the reality of the situation. It does in no way mean that Greece is better than Australia, or that Greece can defeat Australia because we all know that this is NOT the case.
There is a very big difference between Australia and Greece and there always has been a big difference throughout history. Australia is ranked higher, has won more games against quality opposition and is a far more talented, professional and creative team.
I already told you that Greece will be ranked lower than Australia within 12 to 18 months.
