@kurupetos, I like my cucumber fresh, and I like it raw, like my melons, and cantaloupes, the same way: ripe, crisp, juicy.

Must confess RW, didn't get around to them... perhaps this weekend.

Tried tonight...!!! Not bad, not bad at all with some iced-cream, but the fryer's gonna need some cleaning...!!! ... :(

...will you do it again?

...did you freeze them before dipping them in the oil?

Is this right...??? ... :shock:

You're meant to freeze or chill them before frying...??? ... :?

ok, checked for some recipes and found some interesting insights:

...chill, not freeze, before cooking
...they are not a crazy Canadian invention, they are Scottish
...they are battered, to taste (see recipes below)

http://deep-fried.food.com/recipe/deep- ... bars-43463
http://www.ehow.com/how_2070780_deepfried-mars-bar.html
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-nor ... d-19487149

...and unlike Halloumi, although applied for, there is no Trademark, recognised.

omg...omg..you don't know bishies?......flat dough like a mini pizza that goes inside a deep fryer...when it comes out you drench it in honey and crushed nuts and when it cools cover it in carob syrup.... what about a zambura file? have you ever had one of those?

it's like a nerokoloji but longer and thinner...Cypriots usually cut it and make gemista with shiro yahni..in some areas of Cyprus it's called tampura instead of zambura and in Vietnam it's called bambura

...could a bishia be the original crepe, I wonder? I understand that something like a crepe for dessert was created, here, in Cyprus, during the time of the Egyptians (earliest known recording of a dessert).

still don't exactly know what a zambura is, vegetable you say?

Shamishi = şamışı (turkısh)

Al-Sham, endonym of the region bordering the eastern Mediterranean Sea, usually known as the Levant or the region of Syria
Bilad al-Sham the Caliphate province of the same region

Ishı = işi (Turkish)

İş = work, işi = work of. :wink:
