I'm glad you agree!

The thing is, if you are going to talk about rankings then you can't pick and choose. Australia has outperformed Greece in Football over the last half century.

I'm afraid your knowledge of football is deteriorating fast Paphiti. Check the FIFA rankings or any other rankings and Greece is a minimum of 20 positions above your pub team. You've gone and found some obscure ranking from 1960 (why 1960? Why not from 1940, or 1910? What's wrong with 1938?) and claimed it as a credible ranking system when it includes countries that don't even exist anymore!!

Once again stick to cricket and let us Europeans and Latin Americans deal with football.

Well it appears Greece is not so European.

I suggest you take it up with those that actually formulate the rankings and place Australia higher than Greece.

Look, Australia has a history of beating the superpowers of World Football - Holland, Germany, England, France, Brazil, you name it.

Greece has a long history of embarrassing itself and getting hammered. It's not my fault.

Why not from 1940? Because they didn't have one.

In 1940 Australia's Football Team was probably fighting the NAZIs in Greece trying to protect its dignity. This is where Greece should sit that out and let the Aussies sort things out with Ze Germans!

Not a dead donkey at all.

Australia has worked really hard in Football and all sports generally.

It's no mistake that now it has a fully pro A League which is of a very high standard bringing in some very big name stars to play. It's no mistake that they are bidding to host the World Cup with their state of the art stadiums which are the best in the world.

It has accelerated and surpassed Greek Standards. When you bring in players like Del Piero and David Villa as opposed to a few washouts and African players in Greece and Cyprus.

There is a big difference between Greece and Australia all round.

My semi-finals predictions...

Brazil - Germany 1-0

Argentina - Netherlands 1-0

Brazil vs. Argentina in the final would be fantastic!

Del Piero is 39 and David Villa is on loan from New York City (another superior league ) is 33 yrs old and is looking to end his career somewhere easy.

Meanwhile Samaras has Atletico Madrid and Celtic bidding for him.

I heard Marinos Satsias was invited to end his career in Australia, but he refused. Is this true?

 Its true... Had it not been for Al Halawai Yemmeni FC jumping into the negotiations with the lure of playing in the Yemeni Premier League then Paphitis could be watching Satsias play as we speak. :(

Wrong again!

David Villa is a Manchester City signing for 30 Million Euro.

Manchester City, New York City, and Melbourne City are the same company! Hence David Villa will be playing for Melbourne City this season. He is already in Australia training with the team which manages to pay 40,000 per game for the starting 11.

Further to that, Manchester City players can be named in the New York and Melbourne City line ups.

Another reason why the A League plays in the European off season is the fact that many European Stars actually play for Australian Teams.
