The Dutch just played in a relaxed tempo to save their strengths for the next round. They still won... and that's all that matters...
OK let's say the Dutch played a relaxed tempo.
If that is the case, they would want to control the game at that tempo and they did not manage to control the game throughout the entire match. A team playing a relaxed tempo would turn it up when the opposition gains the upper hand, and yet that didn't happen.
Therefore, the Aussies were all over them, and that is what all the experts, sports commentators and media are saying. Australia threw the game away. The Dutch did not win, the Aussies lost it! That is the hallmark of an inexperienced team of kids which is what the Aussie Team is. Youngest team in the competition.
There is a reason why Australia have this squad. This squad is being developed into the next golden age of soccer. Yes, Australia has had a Golden Age between 1998 and 2010. They were ranked 9th in the world. This team is being sculptured to achieve that and more.
They are getting their taste of blood right now, and it will be another more mature Australia in the next world cup.
Australia will also be ranked much higher than Greece within the next 2 to 3 years. It will be in the top 20 within 3 years and in the top 10 after the next World Cup.
They have a great coach and brains trust and the money to have any coach they want including Van Gaal - who was pathetic against the Aussies I must say. He was outclassed and tactically fucked in the head by Postecoglu, and Aerelio Vidmar!
