...and will you hold Turkey's flag higher, are you "Turkish" enough? think. Cyprus is not your enemy, it is an island that deserves much more recognition than being some part "Turkish" and some part "Greek"; don't you feel a closeness to the land, a pride in being a part of its greater Heritance? "Greek" is your enemy, so is "Turkish", just like religion used like a whore to distract us from loving by nature, instead to be loving to "them".
...I am not your enemy, if you love Cyprus.
As speech ending in an ultimatum..........sounds like religion to me.
sorry zan, I don't know what you mean.
As should read A
" I am not your enemy, if you love Cyprus" means.....I will punish you if you don't?
Religion= if you do not do as I say god will punish you. Most religions.
Maybe Buddhism is slightly different? If you do not do as I say then you will not achieve enlightenment and you will punish yourself?
What is there to love about Cyprus? What period are we talking about? Heritage! What heritage? Murder and double cross? Isolation and punishment? Retribution? Doubt and fear? GCs telling me I am not worth fighting for? Just fighting against.
I have snippets of childhood memories. New shoes for my sisters wedding in 1963 spoiled with screams of murder not long after. Holding on to my dad's enormous finger going to a bayram festival. Sitting and waiting for a UN convoy to take us to my aunts village being impressed with white painted stones to mark out their bases. Having flash backs forty years later and waking up in a cold sweat from memories I still can't make sense of. My preferred choice of flag would be a white one. Stop this madness written on it.
repulsewarrior wrote:...whatever snippets there are of your life or mine are there perhaps for us to learn from, you are not alone, zan. and the Heritance I am talking about, that is Cyprus, can be described as a brief passing, the History we'll leave, compared to what has passed, as Mankind, before. it should be a credit to us that after thousands of years, its dwellers are no more chattel, the subject of a foreign land, but Free. quite frankly, i remember my Uncle(s) and Cousin(s) who like me were close to the Land; that they die in vain, like yours, if it is no more, the loving heart, we have, as Cypriots, they were Cypriots when they were murdered. all the more reason to fight, I think, against the spite which makes for "Greeks" and "Turks", I don't want to be like them, and unlike you, I won't choose one over the other.
