Turkey's Military Command Wants Varosha!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Breaking news from the Zizziro News Agency...

Claims that large parts of Cairo, Athens, Baghdad, Mecca, Jerusalem etc etc are vakif.

Turkey/"trnc" are submitting claims that large tracts of the former Ottoman Empire are vakif .

Ottoman researchers are said to be busy concocting the evidence to support the claims.

...right, after a Caliphate (bigger than Turkey) is declared in Istanbul, and Turkey is declared its Protector, there will be some entity that may make that claim.

@GR, oh good you're beginning to see things the way i have for years. It's not Erdogan's plan, it is Turkish Foreign Policy longer than that, how else can one explain the non recognition of Cypriots, as People?

The concocted evidence are in the same box that prove that a Turk found America and the moon landing was a hoax

Derinia mayor protested yesterday about Turkish army training with live anti tank rounds right next to the UN monitored fence in Derinia.

This sounds like a typical heavy handed cynical ploy we have come to expect. Note the salient facts- right next to an inhabited area, using live anti tank rounds, and just south of the enclosed Famagusta area. The message is so heavy handed as to be laughable. But then subtlety was never an Ottoman trait. Then they wonder why no one likes them. They are the neihbor everyone would rather not have.

Vakıf principles, which took effect on the island in 1571, are still valid there today. The rules were upheld in the treaty signed by Great Britain and the Ottoman Empire in 1878 and were also referred to in the London and Zurich agreements of 1959-60. According to court decisions in Famagusta, around 90 percent of Varosha, in the Famagusta district, belongs to the Abdullah Paşa Vakıf (Foundation) and the Lala Mustafa Paşa Vakıf. According to rules regulating vakıfs, the deeds were dedicated in perpetuity to the Muslim religious foundations and as such could not have been transferred to individuals.

A reminder that the matter of the dodgy claims that Occupied Ammochostos is vakif was tried on by "trnc" at the ECHR just a couple of years ago in the case of Lordos et al v Turkey.

The ECHR threw the vakif claim out in a couple of sentences and further went on to say that the only land ownership that the ECHR recognised was that defined by the Republic, by the kochans or land ownership certificates of the Republic's Land Registry Dept.

... but don't let that definitive judgment stop you guzey boys wasting your time.

...oh, and for the rest of you a reminder of how Tergish negotiation works, pick and choose quasi-legal arguments backed up by aggressive bullying.

Is the matter of anti-tank shells being fired by the TA in the vicinity of Dherinia a day or two ago becoming a little clearer; as to where things are heading..???
