...and speaking of churches, (or mosques) "too dangerous" to prey in, what was that lovely topic bill, with a list of them turned into parking lots, that are, as in this case, quite nice?

Well, below is one very popular Mosque.

It's the Cami Kebir Mosque in LCA, between Phinikouthes and Piale Pasha, opposite the Fort.

... and here's the contrast with the disgusting racism and religious intolerance of "trnc" that we saw displayed at Saint Antonis last Friday.

Here's a Djami packed to the rafters with worshippers at prayer times, with kneeling room only, full of the faithful who don't need anyone's permission to pray, with a congregation often overspilling in to the courtyard and road outside.

On a happier note.... Just a few days after the Racists of "trnc" broke up the Holy Mass at St Antonis at Occupied Kythrea, the Mufti ( in the company of the reps of the CY Church and the Swedish Ambassador's office) celebrates the opening of another Mosque for prayer in the Free Areas.

The Tahtakale Mosque in Nicosia (Free Parts thereof) is now open for interruption-free worship.

From Sigma, for those who speak a language that makes them liable to get thrown out of Churches and worse in the Occupied Areas...

"... The Taht-el kale or Tahtakala mosque took its name from the eastern quarter of Nicosia it is located in.
Tahtakala is a corruption of the phrase Taht-el-Kale which means “under the Castle” (meaning the close by Famagusta Gate).
The mosque was built in 1826 by the Ottoman Governor Es-Seyyid Mehmet Agha in the place of an older mosque. The minaret was re-built in 1948. ..."

This is a story about a Christian cemetery in Occupied Varosha which appears in today's kibrisgazetesi, and to try and put another positive spin on what is a deplorable situation of what has gone on for decades under "trnc", the lack of respect that's reported below has come in for condemnation from CYs up there.

This is a translation of the first para provided by a friend elsewhere...

The "greek" cemetery in the Varosha district of Famagusta, is in a deplorable state due to lack of interest . Most of the grave stones over time were demolished and the cemetery is also used as a pasture.
Complaints from the citizens arriving at our newspaper KIBRIS claims that the cemetery is used as an animal shelter by a person living in the area and that he has used it for his free range herds.
Citizens stated that "greek" Cypriots who visited the cemetery having seen the state of the graves which were plundered have cried for hours are trying to fix the graves of their relatives.'
