OFFICIAL RELEASE: The Bequer Tools - CSS-3 Machines

Postby Get Real! » Wed May 28, 2014 5:13 am

After 6+ months of development I’m pleased to announce the first commercial release of The Bequer Tools - CSS-3 Machines.

It’s been a long and difficult journey catching up with new technologies and setting everything up including the home website, but here we are at long last and I can finally take a break and go out and celebrate with my mate DT for our usual scotch fest which I haven’t done for ages!

By the end of the year I hope to have a suite of powerful web apps available at the Bequer Tools home site including…

* Flex Builder - Rapid Web Development for Manual Coders
* HTML5 Machines - Collection of HTML generators
* JS Machines - Collection of Javascript generators

To read more about CSS-3 Machines keep reading below or to checkout the home site and try out the software now go to…

http://www.thebequertools.com/

Your feedback for both the website and the software is most appreciated so that I may hopefully correct anything I may have overlooked before we move into the marketing phase. Thank you very much for your time trying things out. :D

CSS-3 Machines description:
----------------------------------

The Bequer Tools - CSS-3 Machines is a collection of cross-browser visual CSS-3 compliant designer-generators for web script professionals and amateurs alike.

The program provides the CSS designer with a full set of property settings for every object right down to the last detail, to fine tune styling with exceptional accuracy and flexibility, and to provide the ability to explore the potential of multitudes of CSS-3 styling combinations that are possible.

The CSS-3 Machines provide a true WYSIWYG graphical environment resulting in the script generated having the exact screen output and behavior as what is experienced during the design stage.

So congratulations, for the world’s most powerful cross-browser visual CSS-3 style generator is now in YOUR hands!

Hi GR,

can't say I'm impressed with the website. The grey background AND writing makes it difficult to read to say the least.

You have no About us, contact us or any other menu option to explain the site.

You are missing the copy write date below.

Rolling the mouse over the options to the left, opens another small window. This opens slowly and does not have the feel of a quick dynamic site, IMHO.

Overall, regardless of the fact that I have no idea what this stuff does, if I had come across this site, it wouldn't draw me to stop and look.

Sorry mate, you did ask for constructive criticism.

Good luck with it though, hope you sell loads

They’re meant to be “new age” color combinations but I’m not so sure about them myself…

Yeah, maybe I should include something like that...

Yeah I forgot about that... mind you I'm not impressed with my design either so I can't imagine anyone wanting to copy it!

Rolling the mouse over the options to the left, opens another small window. This opens slowly and does not have the feel of a quick dynamic site, IMHO.

That’s meant to be a “effect” called a “Transition” with an adjustable delay. I could make them open instantly but the “effect” would be gone… it goes to show that users don’t care about effects despite all the effort developers put into them!

Yours is the kind of feedback I’m looking for… direct and to the point! I really need that to understand users better so I really appreciate your time and input. :)

What you need GR, before you go in to the marketing phase is an optimized, high converting "sales page".

What are you selling? you lost me after about 5 seconds of landing on the page.

I should’ve mentioned that what I’m about to market are specialized software tools for web developers so if words like “HTML” and “CSS” don’t mean anything to you then it’s only because you’re not in this industry.

The marketing will definitely be targeted at these people when the time comes but I just thought I’d throw it up there on the forum for now so that we (the CF family) may have a glance for some initial thoughts etc… I appreciate that most of you won’t understand what the product is about but still it’s good to hear your feedback just the same. :)

I understand what these technical acronyms mean but this is about selling right?

Features tell - benefits sell - this is true for selling anything. What is the benefit or why should a developer buy these tools?

Did you build the site using these tools and is it a showcase of what can be achieved using them?

Well, there are a few key points on the website (marked by green ticks) you may have missed, but there’s a lot more to this program that one would discover when they download and try it.

The site is very small and simple... I wrote it over a weekend, so it would be more meaningful if I was to say that I used CSS3-Machines to write CSS3-Machines! :)

If you’re using Windows why don’t you download and install the program and have a play with it… you may be surprised at how easy and fun it is to use... even if you don't know anything about web development.

Don't you want to correct things that you have overlooked? I think you are overlooking the most important thing, which is sales?

From what I understand, you have a niche market to sell to and I presume they are educated and have industry awareness.

Your competition is stiff.

Your product cost 150 euro, when for free to 100 Dollars, I can choose word press and buy a premium theme that has a live drag and drop editor which will allow someone like me to build professional looking websites exactly how I want them, in minutes, without writing a single line of code. It also come with every kind of plug in you can imagine to enhance the functionality of the site.

why should I buy this tool?

why should I buy this tool?

The difference is a bit like buying a ready made car from a company like Toyota versus building a DIY car kit.

Some people like to manually code websites so as to attain that highly optimized perfection they’re always dreaming about and because it gives them a sense of satisfaction that a hand-crafted job always offers.

There’s also a big difference in code quality and performance between what a site builder like Wordpress can achieve versus a hand crafted website.

So my tools are there to assist the manual coders in a variety of ways.

The other area is education… students need to learn CSS properties and how they affect styling which my CSS3-Machines perfectly demonstrates.

Now you are moving in the right direction,

You have to verbalize all this in a concise and persuasive way on the 'sales page'.

You need to prove that your tools are the better option over word press and the likes and highlight these differences.

You need to appear professional and trustworthy so people will follow through with a transaction.

You have to justify the higher price.

at the moment, your website does not and that is why people like me and B25 were lost when we landed on the page, and many others will get lost too.

The sell is just not there.
