You are a traitor RW. Why should a Cypriot be excited after watching these foreign planes?

They only remind me that 3% of Cyprus is occupied by Brits. I reckon on 20 July, you will be excited watching the Turkish Stars.

I've never seen the red arrows. However , I was stood over a Lancaster Bombers wing on Monday, and watched a pair of Mustangs and B-17 doing an air display.

Annual bike charity day.

Yes, they look stunning, awesome, formidable and frightening. I saw the end of one of their displays near the beach once, plus the full monty at an aerial show.

But, they usually train in Cyprus, anyway - so why the excitement?

Personally, I hate such overt displays of military might. The fact they train, uninvited, over Cyprus is dismal. A sign of how everyone mightier defecates all over us. Nothing to feel proud about. They should train back in their home territory and leave Cyprus in peace.

They are not displaying 'military might' they are practicing skills that very few in the world can match. They choose Cyprus because it has an RAF airfield here, (they do not need an invite!) and the weather is conducive good flying conditions to hone their skills so that ordinary people all over Europe can enjoy displays of extraordinary skills. It's only Greek Nationalists like you that find it offensive ........ grow up!

Displaying 'military might' is what I see most days fly over here! A single or sometimes two Russian attack helicopters of the Cyprus Military. I believe they have three or four but they are down to one at the moment until they can get some body to fix the ones they broke. I seem to remember reading that they are not flow by Cypriots but by Greek pilots ..... I may be wrong?

Oh thank you! They don't need an invite. How ...... colonialist!

There's nothing "nationalist" about my stance.

Does Britain allow the French to fly all over the UK because their planes look ..... skillful?

Yes the French allow the Red Arrows to display their skill all the time! Also, the Brits allow the Patrouille de France in airshows across Britain all the time.

and

Furthermore, this is NOT a display of military might. The aircraft they fly are NOT combat aircraft. And Cyprus is an ideal location for them to train because in Aerobatics and Formation Flying, it is absolutely critical to have Visual Flight Rules conditions. Cloud and inclement weather with low visibility is a no go as you can imagine.

They are welcome in Cyprus, even if there were no British Bases, they could be welcomed at Paphos any time they like to train and display their skill.

There is nothing frightening about them either.

God you people are sick in the head!

They are not Greek pilots. They are Cypriot.

They did their Pilot Training with the Hellenic Air Force at Sholi Icaron at a place called Kalamata in Southern Peloponnese.

If the RoC Government has allowed the Mi 24 Helicopters to fall into a state of disrepair then that is absolutely deplorable. But what else do you expect from our good ally Russia? They probably screwed Cyprus over the arms deal to begin with. Oh and there were 12 Mi 24 but now they are down to 11 because one crashed a few years ago.

Most of these arms deals are suppose to include logistics and materials support and the costs of this are suppose to be included in the initial purchase for a set period of lets say 10 years or more.

It's not like buying a car for crying out loud.

Joint military exercises are perfectly acceptable. Also, it's one thing to attend an Air Show and display (those are by invitation only), but it's quite another to willy-nilly train without permission in another country's sovereign territory!
