A cooperation agreement to protect the environment, focusing on coastal research and the exploration of hydrocarbon reserves as well as oil pollution was decided on Tuesday by the ministers of the environment of Cyprus, Nicos Kouyialis, Greece`s Yiannis Maniatis and Israel`s Amir Perez.

The agreement was achieved during the Union for the Mediterranean Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate Change that took place in Athens and in which more than 40 ministers and representatives from Mediterranean countries took part.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed issues concerning the Horizon 2020 Initiative to de-pollute the sea, climate change in the Mediterranean, environment and climate investments and sustainable consumption and production in the Mediterranean.

Cyprus, Greece and Israel achieve agreement to protect the Mediterranean

here is one where i imagine Turkey will be late to the party, even Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, have better chances of joining an enterprise like this, sooner...

...a pity i say, that such thinking is not initiated by a country that strives to lead, in International Affairs. i suspect that for the others, given Turkey's need to act belligerently, and, at sea, in a dangerous fashion, the need for such cooperation became even more relevant.
