Diyalog TV’de Aytuğ Türkkan’ın sunduğu programda ilgili soruyu yanıtlayan Uluçay, “Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti bayrağı açılması eylemi ile ilgili şuan yargı süreci devam ediyor. Mahkeme ne kadar verir bilemeyiz. Ancak şunu söyleyebilirim ki; Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti bayrağı 1960 yılında iki toplum tarafından oluşturulan ortak cumhuriyetin bayrağıdır. Biz de dolaylı olarak Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti’nin bir parçasıyız. Ayrıca bireysel olarak da zaten Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti’nin parçasıyız” dedi.

Uluçay, sözlerini şöyle sürdürdü:

“Dolayısıyla konu sadece bir bayrak meselesi değil. Dünyada hakettiğimiz yeri almamız gerektiğini düşünüyorum. Ve bunun da en önemli yolu Kıbrıs sorununun çözülmesidir. Kıbrıs müzakerelerinde önemli bir dönemde bulunuyoruz. Sınır kapıları ile ilgili de çalışmalarımız devam ediyor.”

Couple acquitted for Cyprus 'flag crime'

A TURKISH CYPRIOT couple arrested for flying the flag of the Republic of Cyprus outside their shop in occupied Famagusta have been acquitted.

The main charge the pair faced was conspiracy to undermine the Turkish Cypriot 'state' in the north.

A friend of the couple said they were 'very relieved' at the outcome.

The saga, involving Koray and Cinel Basdogrultmaci has been going since summer 2013 – with the couple receiving wide spread support both sides of the Green Line.

At a hearing last month, a group of around 100 Grey Wolves gathered again outside the Famagusta district "court” in order to protest against the couple.

According to Turkish Cypriot media, the protesters were holding the flags of Turkey and the "TRNC” and were shouting slogans against the couple such as: "Cyprus is Turkish and will remain Turkish”, "Peace under equal conditions”, "How happy is the one who says I am Turkish” and other.

...if these Leaders are true to their electorate, if they are there, there for Cyprus, the People will support them. It is not hard to see the benefits of a Cyprus that is neither, "Greek", or "Turkish", because it is Cypriot. Only the other half, do not agree, those who are "Greek" and "Turkish". With the wonderful news today, that the Flag of Cyprus can be flown anywhere on the island, Koray Basdogrultmaci and Cinel Senem Husseyin, are Free in flying theirs'. I hope that more of these Flags, rather than "Greek" Flags or "Turkish" Flags, are chosen, by Cypriots, to fly, without fear.

...indeed, if there is anyone to blame, it will be "us", if that is all between us, because "this" must stop.
