Not only in Cyprus

Postby kurupetos » Mon Apr 28, 2014 2:33 pm

There were ugly scenes at Anfield following Chelsea's 2-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon as fans clashed outside the stadium.

Pictures have emerged of a scuffle outside the Anfield Road end of the stadium after Liverpool fans took exception to Chelsea supporters singing about Reds captain Steven Gerrard after the match.

One fan appeared to throw a punch while others had to be restrained by police.

Compare a scuffle and a punch to a weekly full on riot!

How are you suppose to take your Son to the Footy in Cyprus?

I remember the UK was pretty bad with hooliganism in the 80s and maybe 90s but they really cleaned up their act with CCTV and harsh penalties. Security is always tight. Perhaps the English FAA should be consulted in order to fix the problems in Cyprus.

Paphiti, the only thing you can do with animals is put them in a zoo or put them down. In Cyprus, they are just thugs out for trouble. Shame, I thought at least we were better than that.

I blame the authorities, Cyprus FA and the Clubs.

It was really bad in the UK a couple of decades ago but somehow they cleaned it all up. You can go to a Manchester, Liverpool or Arsenal game no probs with your son.

In Cyprus you wouldn't dare take your son anywhere near those thugs. That is the death of Football when a family can't go and watch in safety and peace without the risk of getting hurt.

The thing is, the authorities need to have a look at what they did in the UK and implement the same measures and actually enforce the laws. Punish the clubs with huge fines and hurt their bottom lines. They will soon reign in their hooligans.

I agree. If ten of those bastards are arrested and put in prison for a few years, then the problem will be solved.

But first we need a more competent government.

Are you serious? :?

Probably a bit OTT but the Cyprus FA should get serious and fine the clubs.

Read this Paphitis...

A police officer and three Napoli supporters were injured, one fan critically, in clashes before Saturday's Copa Italia final between Napoli and Fiorentina in Rome, Italian television and news agencies reported. The ANSA news agency reports that the shootings occurred in Rome's periphery where Napoli fans were gathering for the match.

One man was shot in the chest as he walked towards Stadio Olimpico and taken to Villa San Pietro hospital, it was reported. It said another supporter was shot in the arm, while the police officer was shot in the hand. Circumstances of the shootings were not immediately clear however the pistol used in the incidents has been found by the police, the AGI news agency said.

Clashes were also reported in the Tor di Quinto area close to the stadium, with rival supporters throwing firecrackers and other objects at each other ahead of the game, forcing a delay to the 7pm GMT kick-off. The website of daily newspaper La Repubblica reported a total of six people injured in the clashes. The police were only immediately able to confirm the injury to the supporter shot in the chest.
