...dude, i feel your pain, and i don't doubt the meaning of your words if they were spoken to those who are to blame, mostly i'll say i share this pain, and i trust that most families in Cyprus regardless were victims to those who lost their sense of loving in favour of a Hate of their "own" choosing. don't get me started on the stories, and don't start about still being alive, for the dead (and the missing) i ask you to act accordingly, and to remain loving, to fulfill their Grace in the Cypriot way, that your fear of the unknown is overcome, so too, the expression which brings "this" ruin.
There is on Cyprus many flags which remain flying, the living Heritance of a past which goes back to the beginning of Civilization itself. the issue is not your life, so to speak, it is beyond the Injustice, it is beyond the fact that there is an occupation, it is a matter of choice. i choose to believe in Human kind, and in God, (at least in the belief that Love is an Infinite Power), but it does not make it so, other forces that oppose this thinking exist as well. in any case, i know i am not alone, and as far as being a Cypriot, i would expect that if i returned to my village, whether it was Greek and now Turkish or not, the Cypriot Flag would fly higher.
...it is up to you. you have that gift it seems to move people one way or the other; i feel i should recognise you, as though someone from the past.
