Erm, so that means you hate everyone?
English isn't one of his strong points. ...
sorry just saw this
And none of you so quick to try an belittle mustiejodu are as smart as you think.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_negativeIn standard written English, when two negatives are used in one sentence, the negatives are understood to cancel one another and produce a weakened affirmative. However, in many dialects, the second negative is employed as an intensifier and should be understood as strengthening the negation rather than removing it.
I do not hate anyone. I do not hate no one.
It is clear that the meaning behind these two things is exactly the same, with any difference being that the second is a more intense way of saying the former. So what we actually see here is a lack of understanding on the part of those claiming he is saying he hates everyone , that as the wiki quote above points out, should be understood. The reason why in this case it has not been 'understood' is nothing to do with what mustiejodu wrote and everything to do with what ethnicity those commenting on his post perceive him to be and their prejudices.
Firstly when I said I just saw this I meant the whole post with musti's fascination with Greek mothers, grandmothers etc....
Secondly, I wasn't taught English as a dialect in school.
