I'm bringing the family over later this year.
I need car hire which allows passage into the north on a day trip. I know you have to sort out insurance at crossing points and thats about it.

Flying in and out of Larnaca.

Recommend me a good, honest firm with reasonable rates.

Insurance for the Occupied Areas... bear in mind that it's a third party only insurance and most hire companies insist that you take it over at your own risk.

Check that Collision Damage Waiver and a second driver is included in any contract.

Anyways, try these (we've used them all without probs)...

Economy Car Rentals... often new cars , but not terribly exciting ones, basic imports but very competitive rates.

CyprusVillasCypruscars.com... slightly older cars but if you want a decent 4x4, they've got some very capable ones at decent rates.

Petsas ... are pricey, but the last time we looked they include insurance for the Occupied Areas.

There's a free shuttle bus from LCA terminal to/from the hire compounds in nearby Dromolaxia.

Aslong as you don't use AVIS you should be fine ....I broke down last August near Paphos ....after a number of phonecalls at the end I had too call a relative to pick me and my family up ...pisspoor service ...for a large company ..it seemed that all their cars were 10 yrs + old ...never get serviced or even looked at !
