VP, try and stick to the issue here. Without bringing up the EOKA struggle of the 50s.

Now bearing in mind that you called ELAM supporters ‘animals’ for disrupting the beginning of a talk by Talat, how would you describe those who murdered two unarmed protesters attempting to lower a flag in the occupied areas? Worse than animals? Or what?

so walking into a war zone and talking peace is the same in your book

So you think lynching and shooting is an appropriate response to protesting in the buffer zone?

What kind of psychosis are we dealing with here?

No wonder the world shuns you as outside the civilised norm.

And this from an elam supporter...animal.

You are confused, Viewpoint. I don't support ELAM. What in any of my answers makes you think I support ELAM?

I think Talat is absolutely entitled to express his opinions without fear of intimidation. Now please retract your silly and baseless accusation.

No, I don't agree. You cannot equate protesters climbing up poles to take down a flag with either Elam or Eoka. If protesters commit an offence they should be arrested. Not treated like animals who deserve to be shot or butchered.

As to those that shot these men, there is an Interpol warrant for their arrest and they should be held accountable for their crimes. Not treated like heroes and given jobs in the occupation regime.

Come on it was hardly a peaceful protest all hell had broken loose people were warned not to go into the buffer zone as their lives would be in danger, they did not only go in but acted like animals and paid the price unfortunately with their lives. We have esatblised that those that yield sticks, smash windows threaten people who are guests kill innocents and shoot people be it called a protestor eoka or elam supporters they are all undesirable animals and should be found and held accountable.

No I don't. How about expanding your mind and look at the intent. Your written answers to this are holding you back.

Don't patronise us. The savagery of the murders of Isaac and Solomou and the identity of its perpetrators exposes the kind of regime that operates in the occupied areas and the thugs who create and sustain it.

We don't need reminding of the intention of those who plunder and occupy our lands and who kill and butcher without conscience.

If you enter or instigate a battle zone you have to accept that you are placing yourself in the line of fire and can get killed, they risked their lives by entering a battle field and paid the price, we all wish that it would have never have happened and that an explosive confrontation was instigated by both sides. You cannot cry wolf after the events in which you played a major part in contributing explode in your face.

Thanks. Just for the record, I think ELAM do a disservice to the cause they think they represent. I disagree fundamentally with Talat but trying to stop him from speaking in a debate is just ridiculous. It just detracts from the content of his speech - which plenty of people were disappointed by anyway.

If the perpetrators think they can justify their actions and they are innocent of any wrong-doing then they should hand themselves over to Interpol and face charges in a court of law.

The fact is the nature of the crimes: a savage lynching and a military shooting when both men were isolated, unarmed and posed no threat, leaves no room for doubt as to the murderous intent behind the killings.

Although I agree they did not deserve such a death and it is a black stain on our mutual history but if you a warned their are mind fields you can die dont go in that area yet you proceed unarmed posing no threat but acting like an savage, if get blown you can hardly complain afterwards.

I don't know what their motives are. But they are a tiny thuggish minority who don't deserve the attention they are getting. Unfortunately, the media are only too willing to sensationalise any incident which only encourages them further and makes them feel more important than they really are.
