Basically, just look at all that is going on and draw your own conclusions. I have heard reports that the have launched quite a few Sonobuoys from AP-3C Orion aircraft. At 2 million dollars a piece, that is a very serious step.

A lot of money is sitting on the ocean floor because of MH370.

Angus Houston just told the press that the Black box Ping Locator will be pulled out of the water for the last time this afternoon. The Bluefin-21 is being prepared for its first survey of the ocean floor which will begin tonight.

The Bluefin-21 will take 2 hours to descend to the ocean floor. It will survey the floor for 16 hours and cover an area of 8kms by 5kms (40 sq kms). Then it takes 2 hours to get to the surface. When retrieved it takes 4 hours for the data to be downloaded and analyzed. Then the Bluefin-21 is returned to the water for its next mission.

An oil slick has also been found 5 kms downwind and down sea from where the signals where detected and they do not believe the oil iS from any of their ships (ADV Ocean Shield and HMS Echo). They have obtained samples of this oil and plan to have them analysed so that they can work out where it has come from.

In a further statement, they believe that the batteries have expired and that any signal detected at this point would just simply be extraordinary and unlikely.

I know how these guys think I told you guys they were going to launch before they even announced it! :D

LOL - now I'm even more skeptical of what they've been telling us.

http://news.sky.com/story/1241978/mini- ... lick-found

The oil is being examined to see if it is aviation fuel, but that process could take several days.

First of all, I thought they told us the plane had run out of fuel!

Secondly, anyone could analyse that spurious bit of pollution and tell them in 2 hours (not several days) whether it was aviation fuel.

Anyway, did the plane run out of fuel ? .....or was it shot down whilst it still had fuel and some way to go ....

That is because you know absolutely NOTHING about aircraft or aviation and believe everything you read!

Firstly, they are not presuming the aircraft had run out of fuel at the current highest probable crash site.

Secondly, even if it did run out of fuel, there is still quite a lot of what is called "Unusable Fuel" left in each tank.

Thirdly, the authorities stated they detected and picked up Oil and not JETA1. If they did get JETA1 which should float to the surface, then just wait for the authorities to mention it.

Also, if it was JETA1, then the gig is up. They would hardly even need any analysis because it is very distinctive and clear but would appear as a slick on the surface.

Furthermore, there is NO WAY, in a million years anyone (AUS or US) would shoot down an airliner in this location. NO WAY!

If the "oil" sleek discovered is for real and not a phantom one like everything else so far, it is more than likely an oil tanker cleaned out its tanks in the open seas. A very common practice.

It can hardly be a Jet fuel, since any leftover jet fuel on MH370 would have evaporated from the ocean surface in the last month or so in the Southern Indian Ocean's heat, assuming there even be a sleek to speak of from the little fuel the MH370 had left aboard. Further more, where there is an oil sleek, there should be broken plane parts floating on the water at the same vicinity, so where is the debris from MH370? I don't think there would be that much engine oil or Hydraulic fluid on the Boeing 777 to create such a sleek from the depths of 4500m.

You're so dumb!

They clearly stated they had found an oil slick and had picked up a 2 liter sample for testing and analysis.

They never said anything less or beyond this.

Vlaka! Learn some English!

They clearly stated that they detected an oil slick and if you check Marine Traffic you will see that the nearest ships are thousands of kms away. The only ships in the area are ADV Ocean Shield and HMS Echo.

They also said that the slick was down sea from the pings and that they will analyze a sample to ascertain its origins.

Paphitis, I noticed your other post lauding CNN's coverage of this story, and thought I would note that I have preferred your own accounts here, reporting on the reporting and offering your own learned observations. Thank you.
