It could be that the batteries have finally died.

This means that the submersible gas an area about the size of Houston to search. This will take a while to do.

If they pick up the signal again, then the area will be dramatically refined.

Also, the submersible will need to deploy to look at the Chinese coords as well. Maybe they should deploy a second submersible.

Now if both prove to be false positives, then this search will go on for years and will cost Billions.

They must be sleeping with the fish in an isolated part of the ocean… what a terrible way to go. :(

Only the ocean can swallow a jumbo jet.

Nearly 100 years of science and technology have done NOTHING to make this plane any more detectable than that of Amelia Earhart in the 1930s!

Aviation technology FAIL of historic proportions!

Yes... it's massive fail, esp when compared to ship location services where as well as the Inmarstat system, there is the AIS system which anyone with a net connection can access to pin-point the location of a ship in near real-time.

The pin locator is now searching the area at the incredible speed of 3 mah, this is a huge technology and speed

Ships use a similar system to ADS-B if I am not mistaken.

Unfortunately it was turned off. Boeing, Airbus and other manufacturers as well as the regulatory bodies never envisaged that.

Australia believed it crashed in the Indian Ocean even before then.

It is the only viable conclusion because the northern arc was ruled out because it was never detected by Indian Primary Radar.

IMO it has landed in Tehran. Then armed with nuclear weapons, but finally shot down by the Russians near Crimea.

It is fantastic technology to be able to send theses drones, submersibles and Robots down to a depth of 4500m and entertain the possibility of retrieving the Black Box.

The authorities seem to be confident enough to narrow down the search area.

That would mean that they may be planning a nuclear strike which entitles the US to turn the country into glass before they get the chance!

Happy?
