Look boys and girls, something has to be asked..

Why does the aviation industry rely so much on these black box things...!!!

2/3rds of the Earth is ocean, deep ocean! ... and so once again, dozens of planes and ships are frigging around for weeks, trying to pick up "pings" from the boxes and if and when they find the "pings" there's the immensely difficult task of trying to recover the boxes in miles of water, presumably with ROVs.

Isn't this a ridiculous situation...???

Surely in this day and age these boxes are past sell-by dates.

Isn't there a case to be made that all this data, all the cabin and ground communications and everything else should be relayed to comms satellites and then to storage centres on land. ..???

Where is the British Sub?

Did you see their home made hydrophone complete with Apple Ear Plugs?

It could be that Kikapu is right and that they are trying to keep the Chinese busy because it has become apparent to me a while ago that things are not all that good between the Australian Authorities and the Chinese Effort.

I think there are some politics in the background going on. When I was in Perth I had flew directly abeam RAAF Pearce and I could see all the equipment on the tarmac.

The Chinese were operating out of Perth International and they are not working in conjunction with Australian Coordinators. They are doing their own thing whereas all the other countries are cooperating and helping each other out.

Having said that, it could be that HMAS has the false positives and that it is indeed the Chinese that may have something solid.

A press conference is about to take place right now in Perth, so hopefully something significant is announced.

The problem Bill is that no one in their wildest dreams ever even thought of this type of 'crash' ever occurring, similar to 911.

Things like this catch the industry off guard and everyone else for that matter. That is why it is so important to find MH370. If they don't then this crash is going to haunt the industry forever. How can you ever explain a B777 just disappearing? Very damaging and there are behind the scene interests from major airlines (industry) right up to Boeing, the second biggest corporation in the world and a political juggernaut.

From this, a few issues will be addressed, such as:
1) possible deploy-able Black Box which are in use by the Military already, and
2) a new completely self contained tracking device that is completely secure from any manipulation from the Flight Deck.

You will see these developments over the next year or so.

Angus Houston giving a press conference right now.

They mentioned that the HMAS Ocean Shield lead is the most promising at this stage but he stressed the fact that transmissions are distorted and effected in very strange ways through the water. There is no confirmation yet but the Australian Authorities said that there is going to be a lot of activity over the next few days.

They stated that they are very optimistic but also admitted that HMAS Ocean Shield has not been able to maintain a constant signal which could be for a number of reasons, and they also said that there is still some element of doubt but very optimistic nonetheless! :D

One thing is for sure.

The Australian led Search Effort has been the biggest in Aviation History It is well organized, and regimented, utilizing the most advance technologies which are known and unknown (military spec shit and Spy Satellites).

The Americans have been excellent and will do anything for Australia, this is truly very evident and clear. The Brits have been great as well, and the Survey Ship HMS Echo is doing a great job. Everyone is pulling their weight including Japan, NZ, South Korea, and Malaysia.

The Chinese are playing a bit of a Geopolitical Game here and are pandering to their own people. The Chinese Acoustic event could be manufactured but the Australians are clearly exploring all leads at this stage.

This search has been a big success in the way the assets have been deployed and the few million square kilometers of ocean that has been covered by the most advance Surveillance Aircraft on the planet. These are the things we know.

Outside of this, dozens of the most advance and secret military Satellites from US, AUS and UK were tasked and probably still are their bit.

Just amazing how they were taking snaps of debris a mere 1m big.

In the background, this is a geopolitical game which Australia will NOT fail in. The political cost is enormous.

Further to this, the Aviation Industry and Boeing have a vested interest hence the involvement of the US which has that and can't afford to let its best ally down.

I was being facetious about the British Submarine. I do not believe the Brits would do this to the Chinese, and the political cost and embarrassment would not be worth it should they get caught. But I do believe that Australia and China have exchanged some very harsh words over a number of things. They delayed in notifying the Australian Authorities about their Acoustic Event by some 12 hours which was completely stupid and politically motivated!

I am now convinced that MH370 will be found.

No it will not even be close.

The Pilots of Air France had lost their Static Vent and Pitot sensors due to icing and stalled the aircraft. The aircraft was stalled and they had false Airspeed Indications and kept pulling back to try and climb whilst ignoring the Stick Shaker making the situation even worse. If they lowered the nose and applied full power they would have recovered.

That is not the case with MH370. This aircraft was also thousands of kms from its course so they investigation is taking a more criminal approach.

Probably the Chinese don't trust the whole thing. And probably the Australians, British US etc know the reasons why the Chinese don't trust the whole thing. I don't think the reasons are merely political but have to do with the accident itself and how it happened.

In any case let's hope those pings were real. Reading over the net unfortunately the odds they were real hold a probability of about 30-40% only.
