Hi all am visiting the island later this year and need a car for my stay what companies can I trust and which ones should I stay clear of?

I did rent a few times. Mostly chose one over the net, from what seemed to be a reasonable offer there&then. IOW, I tried quite a few different companies.

In the first place, I want to stress that I never had an accident or anything. I ran out of gas once, even though the meter showed the tank weren't empty. Budget. Had to "raise my voice a little" to express that I didn't accepted their assistance fee related to that incident (a service man came and gave me 5 liter). Apart from this, I can't really say I had negative experiences with any of the companies.

The only thing that makes me grumpy every time is the fuel policy where most companies will charge you for a (more than) full tank regardless of if you return it half full.

Last few times I hired I was presented with an empty tank and told bring it back the same....
