One mo RW... there was news ... got to find it...

Yes... these the report and views of a friend...

"... Update on the Koray and Cinel case. Today's trial was postponed until the 6th May 2014. The reasoning behind this was that the couple were given a choice of pleading guilty to 'disturbing the peace' and to be given a small fine or to please not guilty and for the case to go to trial. Today's judge did not want to deal with the case as the previous judge who had first heard the case was still on maternity leave and will be back early May and he prefers her to deal with it.

The charge of 'disturbing the peace' was trumped up because there is no law outlawing flying the Cyprus flag in the north. Apparently 5 individuals (mainland Turks) made complaints to the police about the Cyprus flag being flown from their shop and they went to arrest them.

There were many things during that arrest that were caught on film that were not normal police procedure....there are many questions that need to be taken into account.

Anybody interested in supporting the couple and the ideas we have for their May 6th trial, please inbox me so you can be informed of further details.
I wish to praise Koray Basdogrultmaci and Cinel Senem Husseyin for their brave fight against trumped up charges of 'disturbing the peace'. Not willing to plead guilty for these charges, their simple crime was flying 3 Cypriot flags outside their shop, and for this they are being victimised. ..."

...well done, thank-you so much bill. hope you can keep us informed, it looks like a hot potato, we all wait for the previous judge to return from maternity leave.

oh and speaking of Pauline, she is a wash out, having lost her election and her seat, the good people once again, made the right choice, even though people like her have the Liberty of so many choices, there is the one that counts for Freedom which speaks volumes, by people anywhere on the planet, but on Monday, in Quebec; pluralism is a strength on which to build success, baseless hatred is not a tool to use against each other, as far as loving people are concerned.

...nono no it is not that crazy old bag in the occupied north always getting in the papers about the carpetbaggers like her, it is the Pauline as in Marios, Premier of Quebec in Canada, for a little while hoping to be the President of an imaginary country she seemed determined to create after 3 referendums over her thirty year career, until the voting public finally told her to piss off; weren't you asking at some point how she is doing?

Thanks for enlightening us RW.... always good to hear of an electorate telling politicians to piss off.

Now, where where we? Ah yes, in the Ukraine, where the news from the Free Parts of the Ukraine is that the government there is determined to crack down on the Russian-sponsored terrorists now causing trouble in the eastern parts of the country and who are clearly keen to encourage some kind of Russian Piss Operation.

News on this at "g"IG's favourite source of news, the GB BBC ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-27011605

Let's hope they are more successful in this clamp-down than the gov of the Republic was against the TMT Terrorist Insurgency of '63... eh, boys and girls...???

What is disturbing is how a few Cypriots have a very hypocritical stance.

Ukraine is being bullied and invaded by a much more powerful country and now the Russians are trying trying to carve the country up into pieces. They are using the ethnic Russian population as the reason by this part of Ukraine should cede. Unfortunately, Russia's actions are ILLEGAL, and no democratic vote in the Crimea changes that.

This crisis has many similarities to Cyprus and if the Russians get away with this illegal action then the precedence for this type of behavior has been set and that is not good for Cyprus either.

But we are talking about Russia here. The are Orthodox and considered "brothers" (lambron na tous kapsi). If it were the US, we would be crying blue murder, but because they are Russians we are looking for every lame excuse to justify their illegal actions despite these actions being oh so similar to the actions of Turkey in 1974.

Maybe we deserve what we get.

Fortunately, Russia's actions carry a heavy political cost because the EU, US and allies are about to embargo Russia. Let's hope that this political cost is enough to cause Russia to reassess the situation and pull out.

I'm not as simple as you in rushing to draw parallels to Cyprus with every single global incursion - the devil is in the detail. 8)

But since you keep twisting my arm (ouch, reh), the likeliest comparative scenario of a Crimea being like Cyprus is thus: in a few more decades, if Cyprus is still under occupation from Turkey and Greece has become as powerful as is Russia now .... then, Greece can mount a similar attack to remove the Turks from Cyprus and give back the RoC its freedom.

All other interpretations are spurious .... and meaningless.

Crimea is sovereign territory of the Ukraine, fully recognized by the UN and every country you could mention. The RoC is the same.

Russia's incursion in Crimea and now in East Ukraine is unlawful and very similar to Turkey's actions in 74.

The similarities do not just end in International Law. Russia is also using its Ethnic Russian population in Crimea as some sort of justification for its illegal action just like Turkey uses the ethnic Turkish Minority in Cyprus as justification for its Piss Operation.

roflol

The Ukranian scenario would be closer to the Cypriot one if.

Ukraine had been formed as a nation state as a partnership between Ukrainian and Russian speaking communities, guaranteed by Russia, EU and USA.

Having formed this nation state by internationally binding agreement the Ukrainian community then sought to covertly and illegally remove the Russian speaking communities rights as a community, using deception and illegal paramilitary forces to terrorise the Russian speaking community and force them into submission.

The UN placed troops in the Ukraine to try and stop the inter communal violence.

10 years later the EU launched a military coup in Ukraine with the objective of annexing the Ukraine to the EU.

Then Russian intervenes as a guarantor, causing the EU coup to collapse.

You cannot show and prove that these 'internationally binding agreements' you are referring to are compatible with the UN charter and international law in regards to Cyprus. In fact they are not and I don't know why you would continue with this propaganda, when this sh*t is only recognized by Turkey.

An 'internationally binding agreement' so the Turkish speaking Turkish minority can run an apartheid in Cyprus. This is just pathetic.

As if the Russian speaking Russian ethnic minority were running an apartheid and had 4 votes to every Ukrainian, a veto against the Ukrainians as well as a 30% share in whatever.

This is a very poor comparison and example.
