Turkey refuses to Recognise an independent "crimea"...

(... not much chance of an Independent "trnc" being Recognised then...)

From Hurriyet...

"... Turkey refuses to recognise 'unacceptable' Crimea referendum

Turkey said on Monday that it does not recognise the result of the referendum in Crimea in which voters chose to join Russia, amid fears for the future of Turkish-speaking Tatars in the region.

"This referendum is not recognised, and has no legitimacy," Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu told a news conference in Ankara, standing alongside Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Kırımoğlu. ..."

Bit more on Turkey refusing to Recognise the pseudo-referendum in the Occupied Crimea.

These laughable double standards from the Turkish MFA...

"... The result of the unlawful and illegitimate “referendum” held in Crimea on Sunday, 16 March 2014, and the de facto situation that will prevail following the steps that will be taken in conjunction with this referendum will not bear any legal validity for Turkey and will not be recognized.

On every occasion, Turkey places a strong emphasis on finding a solution to the crisis in Ukraine on the basis of this country’s independence, sovereignty, political unity and territorial integrity, within the framework of democratic principles, and in accordance with law and international agreements. ... ...it is nice to know that his customers are Cypriot, who else would shop at his store?

and yes, it is important that all Cypriots stick together, more importantly, as you say, they should be finding each other for support.

One reason I support Russia. Just could not possibly be in the same position as Turkey.

I fully agree with you. It's nonsense to equate Russia with Turkey's actions. It's as stupid as the Brits now trying to suggest Crimea is to Russia what the Falklands is to Britain because they are trying to find a way to accept the situation without losing face and gain some propagandist support for their possession of the Falklands. Either way, such comparisons are a waste of time as every situation is unique ... and none more so than Cyprus.

But now our bill c. is in the happy position of being in full agreement with Turkey - something to which he seems to have been gravitating towards for a while ...
