What was so bad about being a cypriot . Did we have to join the eu and assimilate European lifestyle and way of life . Has it really brought us wealth ? To me it's made our new generation lazy , unemployment has risen because our people are too lazy to pick potatoes that now we have immigrants doing all the labour work . To me the only real cypriots left are the turkish cypriots that left the country because they don't want to assimilate to turkish or Kurdish culture .

To me the only real cypriots left are the turkish cypriots that left the country because they don't want to assimilate to turkish or Kurdish culture.

So they went somewhere else to assimilate into some other culture. How does this makes them "real cypriots"?

A real Cypriot is one who embraces Cyprus as his one and only one motherland, one who rejects the idea that there are no such people as Cypriots, people who have existed on this island long before either Greece or Turkey set a foot on the island. No one can deny the Greek influence on the island and to a lesser extend the Turkish one.

A true Cypriot considers all other Cypriots as his or her compatriots irrespective of language or religion.

Having met so many T/Cs as well as Armenian true Cypriots, I proudly confess that I have much more in common with these Cypriots than I have with Kalamarades.

The fact is that if all Cypriots felt and acted as real Cypriots there would be no Cyprob to solve, no foreign occupying troops, so folks fly the CYPRUS flag, be proud of your nation and its people.

Are you stupid or what .of course I am a cypriot that's why I don't like the European culture that cypriots are changing to and that's why I don't like the turkish culture that is invading the partitioned side . We are a small island people and all cypriots are the same in the way we live but that has been poisoned by turkey's influence on the turkish cypriots and the European influence on the greek cypriots .

Cyprus has always been influenced by European culture, although proximity is to the ME, Cypriots have on the whole been more Europeans than middle eastern people.

I have a lot of respect for European culture, laws, democratic governments and the respect accorded to all citizens under the law of the land. We have freedom to marry whoever we wish, to believe in whatever faith we chose, to respect sanctity of life and above all freedom of expression and speech. All virtues not associated with the middle east or indeed Turkey.

I have stated many many times over the last 8 years on this forum, that Cyprus can only reach "utopia", peace and prosperity by ditching once and for all the erroneously held belief that we are not Cypriots but either Greeks, Turks, Armenians etc.

I would gladly live next door to a T/C or any other Cypriot, the criteria will always be the individuals civility and integrity and not his religion or any misconceptions he may harbour concerning his ethnicity.

We are in my opinion a very nice bunch of people with ethics, morality, respect and family commitment.

I love my motherland I love its people, dont give a toss if they go to church, the mosque or any other falsehood.
