What was so bad about being a cypriot . Did we have to join the eu and assimilate European lifestyle and way of life . Has it really brought us wealth ? To me it's made our new generation lazy , unemployment has risen because our people are too lazy to pick potatoes that now we have immigrants doing all the labour work . To me the only real cypriots left are the turkish cypriots that left the country because they don't want to assimilate to turkish or Kurdish culture .

Welcome Mustie, this forum is full of people with emotional attachment to specific identities. I was always brought up to believe in the Cypriot identity above Turkish and Greek, this I believe was a project of AKEL. I am also inclined to agree with your worries about the eu. In my opinion Cyprus was forced to join the eu in order to out flank the Turkish occupation. I would be interested in your views as to what Turkish Cypriots can do to resist the occupation?
