Hi all, I’m of Greek (1/8ths) and Greek Cypriot (7/8ths) origin (born in London). The question I’d like to ask is in relation to ‘Georgos Grivas’ the past leader of EOKA. Do any of you guys know if Georgos Grivas’ parents were also of Greek Cypriot origin, or were they Greek from Greece? I recall an account stating Georgos Grivas’ parents were originally from Greece, but he alone was born in Cyprus – however now I have had no luck in finding this single passage. If you do know, and have a passage/article/peer reviewed article to back it up I’d be most grateful.

Most Greek Cypriots have parents that were born on the Greek mainland if you go back far enough. What's your point? Besides, up until 1960 when the British Colonialists told us we were "just" Greek Cypriots and not Greek, there was no distinction.

Clearly, I meant the generic "parents" as in parentage. And sure, you can go back to when we were amoebae, but his question was contextually to do with the relationship between Greek and Greek Cypriot and so you don't have to go so far back, three or four generations maybe and you will find at least one parent directly from the mainland. He himself has 1/8th for example.

Yeh no worries! Back in the day a few generations ago, all Cypriots had to do was jump on a Jet and fly to Greece and then bonk themselves silly!
