What has the modern-day Ottoman Impregnated Greece got to do with the thieving of the Canterbury Embroidery...??? ...

Nothing to do with Greece, it is the principle. Hypocrisy at its best. The English believe the French have what belongs to them, whilst the Greeks say the English has something that belongs to them. Simple, come on Bill even you can agree to that.

STUD, unless you come up with an official link that says they were purchased, you are talking shit mate.

That was in fact the finding of a British Parliamentary committee of enquiry in 1816.

So why don't you answer B25's request for information of whether one looter paid another to tear down the friezes and caryatids?

Because in the context of the late 18th and early 19th centuries b25's point is nonsensical. There is legitimate question about whether or not Elgin had legal title, based upon the claim of an alleged firmin granting him the marbles, but by the standards of the time, and that by how it must be judged, the Ottoman authorities were the recognised legal possessors so if they granted permission (and that is a matter of debate) then Elgin legally acquired them.

Utter bollocks, if the Brits had an ounce of legal standing they would have rammed it down our throats.
Notwithstanding that, tge marbkes are a cultural heritage og Greece, that is where the belong, Ottomans or not, they were invaders all the same.

like it or not in the period in question they were recognised as the lawful rulers. That was how things were and you cannot retrospectively change that. Same for Cyprus under all the invaders she has had, including the Greeks in 1150 bc and 320 bc or so and onwards.

...speaking of tapestries,

The art titled "The Coruscant Tapestry" is hand-stitched cotton thread on 30 feet of continuous length, 7-stitch-per-inch Klostern fabric. Stiffened with a thin batting and hemmed with a custom-made printed pixel star fabric on rear.http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57619260-1/hand-stitched-star-wars-tapestry-of-a-galaxy-far-far-away/

Yes, we have filled a small carry-on case with fags a few times when we return from CY... saving pays for much of the flights. ... :D
