Even Hollywood stars for goodness sake know enough and more than some Oz-Brit charlies who are too ignorant of the fact Elgin was not driven by a desire to "protect" the marbles but simply to adorn his blooming garden with classical Greek architecture and it was only on threat of poverty that he sold them to the British Museum. My goodness, I now begin to understand why most Brits look down on charlies.

Why do you keep putting yourself down like that?

Yes indeed. Must come from having Pastitsio for a brain.

A brain, by the way, of the very void and squishy kind that fails and fails soooo miserably to recognise the massive contribution for near 40 years of the Charlies and Charloues of the Diaspora to the National Struggle.

... whereas these greek nationalists, these modern day EOKA-B traitors, spend their sorry and miserable days sodden from too much Ouzo-drinking... :D

Most British people think it's the right thing to do, to return them. Why do charlies resist this one?

So, why don't they have a referendum specifically for Brit-voters to decide? Or visitors to the British Museum? Not the done thing when they know what the outcome would be.

Anyway, my comment to MacGregor drew attention to the demands of the majority of the "PUBLIC" which can be global since we live in a "global democracy" now, and since he (Mac) says he keeps them in London so that ALL the people of the WORLD can come to see them. Well, duh, the people of the world (except a few ozzie-brit-charlies) want to see them returned to Greece - their rightful home (an allegory of the Cyprus problem, doncha think?).

Yes, real shame that the super nationalists seem to have hijacked this one as well.

Now let me see! Lives and works in Britain, has a Brit husband and half Brit Son. Why she is more Charlie than anyone! I agree that she has a very soft Pastitio Brain.

I also agree that Charlies and Charloues have made a big contribution to the National Struggle, but sadly there are a few undesirable Charlies and Charloues like Kurupetos, YiaLoozer and "greek" Island Girl who should be called Brit Island Girl instead or BIG for short!

From now on, let's refer to Pastitio Brains "g"IG as BIG!

It's amazing anything stood after 2,500 years of foreign attacks as it went from being a temple to the virgin Athena, then another temple to the morphed Christian Virgin and then a Frankish Notre Dame until the Turks used it to take cover from the Venetians when the real destruction began. But it only took the British Ambassador from Elgin just months to strip it like a piranha fish picking at the flesh and only leaving the bones ... 75 plus pieces he took ... why? to protect them? No - to adorn his GARDEN!!!

After financial trouble, he sold them to the British Museum and this is where idiots get the myth that they were "rightfully purchased".

What do you say about the destruction deliberately caused by Greeks and the Greek Orthodox Church during the Byzantine Period?

It's a lot worse isn't it?

Not correct. He sold them to the Government, who before they purchased them, carried out an enquiry which decided that Elgin had legal title based upon a firmin which was apparently granted authorising Elgin to take the marbles. If the firmin was granted ( and there are questions about its existence) then by the then applicable standards then they were lawfully acquired by Elgin and this by the UK government.

How convenient, no records. No one believes the lies colonialist Britain concocted to cover their tracks. Only now the extent of the evil conjured up to excuse the rape of Africa, and in particular the pillaging of the Benin Bronzes, is being confessed.

And how about the colonislist ancient Greeks and the rape of the Persian empire by that megalomaniac, Akexander the Great, and the forced imposition of Hellenism which followed and the lies that you have personally propagate to justify it. Preemptive strike I think was one. That was utter bollox.
