Yes, it is a cynical view, but I am sick to death of these politicians all trying for votes to get better jobs and salaries and benefits and I don't believe for a single moment that they give a rats ass about the average man on the street. My voting days are over they can all go F themselves. What pisses me off even worse is the fact that the RoC are even giving the occupation regime a hand into the EU FFS. Seriously we do need a vigilante group to take these MFs out.

To put things into a little context, the occupation regime opposes Turkish Cypriot participation in these elections. All the main Turkish Cypriot political parties are telling people not to vote. The Turkish Cypriot candidates are being branded traitors for standing by the chauvinists in their own community.

The Turkish Cypriot candidates also want these Turkish Cypriot political parties and the chauvinists to become "new Cypriots".

...doesn't look good, credibility-wise, some 40,000 voters have been omitted from this vote; it seems that the information you give to vote, may be easily compromised, as well.

Yes, not a good situation.

The figures, from the Interior Ministry, are that 95,000 CYs of the Occupied Areas have ID Cards of the Republic, but only 58,637 are on the Electoral Register (for these elections) with an address.

The Elections Registrar of the Interior Ministry is insisting that only those who declared an address appear on the Voting Register, to which Sener Levent responds that this was the fault of the Interior Ministry for not asking for addresses of all who applied for the ID Cards.

...our Mr. Harper, in Canada, was thwarted recently from striking off tens of thousands of voters on the same premise, proof of a residence is required. there are 39 separate types of evidence, he proposed, that can be used, such as a telephone bill, utility bill, lease, driver's license, etc., however it was found to be prejudicial, mostly to students, the elderly, and those living in isolated places, where another Individual may vouch to this truth, but there is nothing, 'on paper'.

http://incyprus.philenews.com/en-gb/Top ... e-is-valid

the chief returning officer said in a statement that provisions of the law approved by parliament in March on the automatic registration of Turkish Cypriots in the ballot list was applied ‘to the letter’

...there are (at least) two weeks, for voters to register, upon the notice each residence is sent, as to inhabitants, for most elections here.

Nonsense, when you fill in the ID application form it is the second thing it asks for after your name. Many of those ID cards were applied for by the parasites so that they could move free withing the EU, oops, we are devils for being in the EU. Yeah, only when it suits them.

My understanding of the situation is that special dispensation has been made to make it easier for Turkish Cypriots living in the occupied areas to vote. Normally, to vote in elections in the Republic of Cyprus, you must apply for a voting booklet, which takes a week or so to obtain. This is the rule that applies to me, and I have obtained such a booklet. An exception to this rule has been made for Turkish Cypriots who live in the occupied areas. They can vote without a voting booklet, just by showing their ID cards, and at any polling station. To qualify, you have to have an address in the occupied areas recorded with the Republic of Cyprus authorities, otherwise you are not deemed to be living there. It seems that some Turkish Cypriot refugees gave their pre-1974 addresses when obtaining identification cards. As such, if these people wanted to vote, according to the rules, they should have obtained a voting booklet from the district office in the district where their pre-1974 address is located, and they would have to vote at the correct polling station for that address. It is all perfectly logical and within the rules, although somebody should have seen this train wreck coming.

mmmm...Shouldn't the RoC authorities have pre-warned the TCs or informed them about all of this? They should have because the regime won't do it because they don't want any TCs to vote. Someone in the Electoral Commission didn't do their job properly.

This is a disaster if you ask me. Would have been great to show the EU that the vast majority of TC RoC citizens actually voted.
