According to today's Afrika, a US foreign policy assistant called Eroğlu by phone to congratulate him for accepting the joint statement. Turns out Eroğlu was unaware of this and that Turkey had told the US that he accepted the text without letting him know

The "world doesn't take the KKTC seriously" not because, as you imply, the TCs think they are 'in charge' but simply because the world knows this is an illegal construct based on the racist expulsion and ethnic cleansing of the native Greeks.

I still wonder why some TCs think anyone will forget their crimes against the native inhabitants of Cyprus. I still wonder why "TCs" think they are any better than their Turkish counterparts.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I know the north is Turkey's illegal puppet state in Cyprus. The problem is, I am amazed at how despite everything that happens there, there are still TCs both in Cyprus and in the diaspora that are brainwashed into thinking that the TRNC is a legal, democratic government and state and that Turkey is only there to "protect them from the barbaric Rums".

I can't think of an example where a state has been considered legally invalid because it performed ethnic cleansing. The north is illegal because it was formed by Turkey on occupied territory, despite having signed an agreement to protect Cyprus' territorial integrity. Thus, she violated the Treaty of Guarantee. You guys should actually read the UN resolutions that you keep referencing.

The crimes against humanity in Cyprus were performed by Turkey, Greece, England, and their local extremist associates. TCs were so traumatized by what happened to them in the 63-74 period that they hung onto Turkey for survival, not because they approved of what Turkey was doing to the GCs. Read "The Make Believe Space" by Yael Navaro-Yashin (the wife of famous TC poet Mehmet Yaşın). The majority of TCs know this very well and it bothers them, but those in power and the TCs that benefited from the ethnic cleansing have successfully silenced them until very recently.

Merhaba ayyannili and welcome to the forum. I couldn't agree more with you regarding your posts above.
I have no statistics about what the majority of Kibrislis (living in Cyprus or abroad) think concerning the matter on whether the Regime in the North is a puppet of Ankara or not. My own Kibrisli friends living in Cyprus are absolute in this, i mean they all think it is a puppet regime. But probably they do not represent the majority... I don't know.

Good luck in the forum and have courage. This is more of a bickering forum than a place for serious discussions.
