I expected to see a more serious discussion on the matter of the joint declaration.
I mean this is the most serious development over the past 2 years or so....
Shouldn't it deserve a point by point discussion rather than the usual one shot nonsense?
Supposedly the whole thing will be signed on Monday. If this happens I will be back with my comments.

... Yes, an exceptionally serious matter, it would be good to see some detailed views.
OK, despite what the Cypriot "patriots" would like the plain fact is that the Turkified north is here to stay in one form or another. Even their brave words uttered on Cyprus Forum will not make Turkey loosen its grip. The bottom line is whatever is agreed a handul of disgruntled extremists from one side or the other (probably one or two volunteers here I could nominate) will render the new arrangement unworkable, the poor minority victims will cry "foul" and secede from the new state. So rather than piss about now and haggle over getting back 5% or 10% or 15% why not get 20% back now and tell Turkey it can do what it likes with the rest - after all it only wants a base to protect itself from an attack by Greece.
There would be no problem about settlers or carpetbaggers in the southern state, they would all have to leave, Kurupetos and his mates would make sure of that, and the property issue would be solved because of the fair exchange of territory.

Jerry I agree with this move, anything else is too dangerous and unworkable.
