Petition your MP for return of Varosha

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

For those in GB who wish to write to their MP...

You can search for them and email them very easily through sites such as this...

https://www.writetothem.com

Helps if you tell them that you're a constituent.

Personally I'd rather not have it, because it would be the first step to losing the rest of the Island under illegal occupation.

Can't agree with that B25. IF Varosha is freed the international media will be in there like a pack of wolves. Turkish vindictiveness towards Greek Cypriots will be there for all to see. That, in my opinion, is the real reason they won't give it up until there's an overall settlement. Deserted Varosha is is a the most potent symbol of the occupation, in spite of the fact that it's unoccupied.

you are suffering from cyprus is the centre of the world syndrome. nobody gives a shit what happened 40 years ago.
shame you were given it for a pre-condition to attend peace talks and did not have to agree, and you refused it. way to go boys.

there is only one way you are going to get it back, open ercan to international traffic under roc fir. simple really but you lot are too thick to consider it.

can somebody tell me why you refuse to open ercan airport. sure you are not fearing competition are you. losers.

Oh dear, I seem to have rattled someone's cage, just got this from one of Eroglu's chums in House of Lords.

L...........,

No idea who you are; if your errand is merely to try to wind me up (I'm too experienced for you in that area) or if you're as naive about Cyprus history as you pretend to be (it didn't just start in 1974 - or even in 1960). Somehow I see you as a youthful (possibly brain-washed) UK resident with a vague Cypriot background.

Jerry,

you should name and shame these dicks. Better still give us his contact details and we'll send him a response.

I doubt he will ever feel ashamed, he "owns" property in the occupied territory. There's only one "trnc" supporting "K" in the Lords, that's Ken Maginnis.

Well it looks as if the 640 e-mails sent to UK MPs may have had some effect, just received this from one of the eco-city poject leaders,

Dear ......,

We appreciate all your efforts.
Some members of our team are meeting with some members of the British Parliament end of February along with the group the Bicommunal Famagusta Initiative, so perhaps this has to do with your efforts. Thank you for that. Friends of Cyprus is also in support of our project and we are in contact with them. We are also in communication with the U.S. Embassy here in Cyprus who is very supportive of our efforts, so slowly slowly, perhaps we can have a real impact.

Many thanks again for all your work,

Best,
.....

I did get some encouraging replies and expect some more from Government departments. I just wish one British minister had the balls to ask Erdo to his face "why is Varosha a forbidden zone and why are you colonising north Cyprus"

If you did not see the link to more photos taken in the abandoned city they are here,

Very good news. It is of course up to the Vaoshiotes how to rebuild their town but this ecoproject has cert kept the matter of Occupied Ammochostos in the limelight.

Here's a picky for you Jerry file.

This is a picky of what is referred to as Jerry's Island in Fam...

I knew Varosha quite well back in the 60s Bill, I don't remember the island though. Interesting view, thanks.

Here's a reply I have just received, it looks like others have been in contact with this MP

I have noted your concerns but I am afraid that I am not able to help you directly as you are not a resident of South Derbyshire. There is a strict parliamentary protocol that Members of Parliament do not seek to intervene in matters raised by the constituents of other Members.

If you have not already done so, I recommend that you write to your own Member of Parliament. Your Member of Parliament for Ashford is the Rt. Hon. ........................

Rest assured I have responded to all South Derbyshire Constituents that have contacted me on the issues raised.

In the wake of the 50,000 sig petition to Downing St on the matter of Occupied Fam, there's an Early Day Motion open for MP's sigs in the GB House of Commons...
